Text with color applied "clickable"?

Aug 17, 2022

Hello!

Why would a screen reader announce "clickable" for text that has color applied to it? The text is not actually linked to anything, but the screen reader says it is.

Hi Jennifer! Thanks for bringing this up. I'm seeing some odd behavior with colored text, as well. I also noticed the screen reader NVDA, for example, stopped reading the paragraph text when it got to the colored text, and I had to hover over the next section of non-colored to get it to continue.

I'll write this behavior up, and we'll let you know when it's resolved.

Hi there, Jennifer. After a little more research, I found out that NVDA screen reader has an issue with reading "clickable" for certain text boxes and elements. Is that the tool you're using?

Also, my note above with the screen reader stopping at the colored text is expected. The screen reader was looking at the style of the word, and it stops when a word is tagged for a certain style, like color or bolding.
