Video player dimensions
Jul 31, 2017
Hi all...
I've been experimenting with Rise videos this morning... I have an older SL that's in 4:3 format, grabbing (via Camtasia) the video as it plays in the SL output. But when I bring it into Rise via the Video function (not blocks), the player seems to be set for 16:9. Is there away of changing that back to the older format? Or if not, of changing the background color to white?
Thanks for any advice!
Michael

Hello Michael!
We certainly recommend utilizing 16:9 resolution.
You can read the details here.
Customizing the background is a good idea though, so that it could look more seamless with your video colors. Please be sure to share that with our team here.
Thanks, Leslie! Unfortunately, the project was created a few years back in 4:3, just as 16;9 was coming over the horizon... It'd mean resizing the project and rescaling over 300 slides...
Eek! I wouldn't want to do that either Michael. Is there a 3rd party tool that would lay a background down (ie white) for your videos so that they fit seamlessly into your Rise course in the meantime?
Hi Leslie, how are you today?
That's a good idea; currently, I'm using Camtasia 9 to capture and produce...
I played with the larger 16:9 size that the Rise player seems to expect, but am still getting a couple of dark lines, one on the top, and one on the bottom. Would you know if these are due to the player?

Hi Michael,
I suspect Leslie is great, as she's on vacation for a few days. 😀
I see the lines that you mentioned, and from viewing the Rise course alone, it's hard to tell what's causing them. Could you share one of the videos with me? If you need to send it privately you can also share with our Support Engineers here - and you can even send them a copy of the rise course!
Was there an answer about how to customise the background colour to white?
Hi Elizabeth,
Unfortunately, it’s not currently possible to customize the background color. If you have time to log a feature request and tell us more about your specific needs, that would be super helpful!
Let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with.
