Why is sharing a link not a recommended long-term solution?

Apr 16, 2021

Hi all,

I've just joined a new team which is using Articulate RISE and they're sharing the course link hosted in rise.articulate.com to learners as their solution to hosting the module.

I understand this isn't a recommended hosting option and by default haven't pursued it personally but my question is. What are some of the negatives associated with sharing learning this way that we should look out for to help me make the decision as to whether or not I raise this as a potential risk?

Hi Michael! I'm glad to hear you're getting started with Rise 360. Here are some points to consider when using the Share link for learners to view your content:

  • You can't track who's taking your content or how they did.
  • Learners cannot resume content if they leave the course; it will always start over.
  • If you need to update your course, learners can see your edits as they're happening.
  • The Share link will eventually become invalid if your subscription ends.

For these reasons, we recommend limiting the Share link as a quick way to get your content in front of stakeholders for review. Let me know if you have questions!
