Adding Labeled Graphics and Discussion Boards to Rise Block

May 14, 2018

Hello,

I am interested in using Rise to create a standard online course.  I envision each week having its own designated lesson, and each lesson having a block comprised of:

  1. a video introduction
  2. a labeled graphic with audio attached to each label
  3. attachment blocks
  4. a knowledge check
  5. discussion board (not yet a function of Rise)

This would ideally be saved as a template and replicated in each lesson. Are the articulate engineers thinking about adding the pre-built lesson components and discussion boards as options within the block feature? If not how would you suggest I design this given the current functionality?  Thanks

Hey Jacquii!

Thanks for letting us know you'd like to see a labeled graphic and a discussion board added to Rise block types.

We're working on creating each of the pre-built lessons as blocks, but the labeled graphic will likely be the first one. I'll tag this thread to be updated so you'll be one of the first to know when that feature arrives!

Although there isn't a native discussion board block in Rise, you can easily set one up using a link to another site. I used a free tool called Padlet in this sample Rise course. Once you've created the Padlet discussion board, copy the link address. Then in a Rise blocks lesson, add a Multimedia Embed block.

Finally, add this iFrame code to the Embed block, and your discussion board is ready to go.

<iframe src="Insert Your URL to the Padlet Here"></iframe>

I also invite other members of the community to chime in and share the discussion board tools they recommend!
