Can you easily combine Rise content?

Hi Robin, 

What a cool idea and way to use Rise, and a really important topic to cover! 

We're working on a feature that would allow you to transfer ownership of a course to a different user and another feature which would allow 360 Teams members to collaborate on a course together. Those should both be rolling out to Rise in early Q2 of '17!  

If you had a 360 Teams account and were able to assign seats to your students that would allow them to all add lessons into one singular course using that Collaborators feature once it's released. Have you talked with our Success team about our Educational pricing? You can reach them here and they'd be happy to go over all the options with you! 

This may be a one-off experience (it's just three students who are working on a research study for this semester.  They will all be graduating in May...)

Based on your reply, it looks like there just isn't any way to enable them to create something that I can then post from my account?  (I do have an education account.)

(They REALLY like using Rise and I think it makes them approach their research in a different way - more holisitically, looking for the big ideas and the key supporting data.  I also like how it combines creativity/art and science.)

When the "Transfer ownership" feature is released they'd be able to transfer a course to another Articulate 360 user (individual or teams) and that would allow them to share it with you, but there isn't a setting as a part of that transfer to allow you to combine or merge individual Rise courses. 

Each individual student should be able to export out the Rise courses for web or LMS, and when their trial finishes the "Share" link will still be live from their accounts as well so that if they had previously given that link to someone they'll still be able to use it to access the Rise course.

Maybe Articulate might think of educational pricing for students in a semester-long class?  I have been very impressed with the positive impact that building an interactive website has on their learning.

As for the educational pricing, I think a 360 Teams account would be the way to go - that way you could assign seats as needed to students while they're in the course and once they've completed the semester you could assign that seat to someone else. If you want to talk through the pricing options or upgrading your existing account our Success team are always happy to go through that! Also, they'd love to hear any other feedback about pricing or the set up - as that'll help us as we continue to evolve.

The collaborators feature is targeted to be released soon, so hopefully we will have some news about that coming your way!

The transfer feature that Ashley mentioned above was released as 'Send a Copy'. This way, when you 'transfer' your course, you don't actually lose your own copy. Give that feature a try, and check out Adam's video here on the topic.

Thanks for the response!

Unfortunately, that feature isn't enough for what we are trying to do. My colleague worked on half of the project, and I on the other half, but there turns out to be no way to share the file or merge two versions into one. She had to manually enter all of my changes into hers, which was kind of a big waste of time.

I look forward to seeing the new feature soon. Really soon. Please. Pretty please. With sugar on top.

Ah, I see! So sorry your colleague had to go through all of that extra work--I know that had to be time consuming. 

I don't have all the details on how the collaborators feature will work just yet, but we'll share the ins and outs here in ELH once it launches!

I know you were both interested in collaborating on Rise courses - so I wanted to let you know that feature is available today. 

Team members can create and edit different lessons at the same time or take turns fine-tuning the same one. Here’s a quick tutorial on how to get started with this feature!

The problem is teams doesn't help those of use collaborating on projects who aren't in the same organization. I am leading a group of 20 IDs/Developers, all subcontractors, and I can't bring them under a team account and then reallocate their licenses after the project (at least that is what teams told me), so my only option is Save a Copy and then two people can't be working on the file at the same time. I am guessing many of us who are freelancers would love to be able to do something like this.

Collaborative authoring is available to Articulate 360 Teams. Collaborators don't have to be on the same team; they need to have an Articulate 360 Teams subscription. So as individual freelancers you could still purchase a 360 Teams account (even as small as a team of 1).
