Caption Box Cutting off text when published

Nov 30, 2018

Hello everyone, I was hoping I could possibly get some help with captions.  In storyline 360, I created a Try video with captions.  The preview displays the caption boxes as they should be, however, after publishing and inserting into rise the caption boxes display cutoff. See attached image

Hi I have a query around using captions. I recorded a short sound clip and have inserted it onto a slide in Storyline 360, but wanted to include the captions with the clip.

I have added in the captions (within Storyline) and it's created a .vtt file which I can see on my computer, but when I try to import it, nothing seems to happen.

When I preview the whole document, the audio plays just fine, but no subtitles, so it's clearly not bringing over the .vtt file - which is a supported file for captions according to Storyline.

Any ideas?

Hi Crystal - yes that's correct. My audio file has imported just fine, and I created the closed captions using that option in Storyline 360 and saved the file. I can find the file on my computer but when I try to import it, nothing seems to happen. I don't know if I'm supposed to see something to confirm the file has been attached/imported, but it also doesn't come up with an error message to say it's failed.

I've just exported my content and put it into Rise, but still no captions.

Hi there, Elaine. Here's what I did to make sure the captions showed in this example Rise 360 course showing in Review 360:

  • Added the captions to the slide using the audio editor in Storyline 360
  • Added a trigger in Storyline 360 to change the variable for player captions to "true" when the slide timeline starts. This makes the captions display by default rather than having to click the CC button.
  • Made sure the caption button was enabled on the Player Properties in Storyline 360
  • Published to Review 360
  • Added the Storyline block in Rise 360

Let me know if you followed a similar process. You can also privately share your Storyline file with us by clicking here. We'll delete everything when we're done testing.
