The company I work for does not all their own content to reside on any non-company servers. I gather that courses created in Rise can be exported, but I guess the only way to create them is in the web application, and so for a brief time the content will be on the Rise server, right?
Correct, the content will reside in Articulate 360 and if you need additional information on what that set up in in terms of our privacy and trust features, you may want to review the information here.
You'll need to be online to access Rise and author content there within a web browser, but you can use Storyline 360 and Studio 360 without a web connection for up to 99 days. We'll continue checking for your subscription status throughout that period, and after the 99 days you'll need to be connected to the internet to confirm the validity of your subscription.
We can be linked to the internet, just not author in the cloud because of forward looking material and security issues. I'll just wait for Storyline 3, I guess. As much as I love some of the products offered, I have no use for others, so the price point is off-putting.
That makes sense for authoring online, and in case it helps clarify our security and privacy set up I did want to share a link to that information here. I don't have a date/time frame to share yet, but the next perpetual version of Storyline will be sometime in 2017 - so stay tuned!
I know - the new characters are pretty spectacular! I especially love the little back stories about each of them, our team is pretty creative. :-)
The Content Library and Articulate Review are specific to Articulate 360, so they will not be included in future perpetual versions of Articulate software.

Correct. You can export RISE content , but during development the content will reside in the Articulate 360 cloud.

Bummer. No stand alone? We've got the same problem; no authoring on the web.

Thanks, Ashley. Do you know if Storyline 3 will offer the beefed up Library of goodies? I do like what I see there.

That is too bad. I guess I'll see what the upgrades are and may just stick with Storyline 2. Thanks!
If you need to talk with our Success team about your upgrade options for Articulate 360, you can reach out to them here.
Hope you have a great holiday weekend!
