If you're looking for an additional layer of copy protection on your videos, I'd recommend uploading them to YouTube, Vimeo, or any other supported content provider, then embedding the videos into Rise from there.
Here's a great example of a course with lots of embedded video, all of which is copy protected by YouTube.

But my question is, Youtube or Vimeo are public and any one has access to
them. I bought articulate because of the password i can setup for
individual course. Hope you fix this big issue. I already checked lynda.com
and Udemy.com and none of their video is download-able.
Vimeo does a really nice job of separating who can see your video from privacy options for video embedding, and you can read all about that here.
We don't have specific plans for additional copy protection in Rise right now, but we'd love it if you'd click here and tell us more about your need for this feature!
Hi Cynthia! It sounds like you're working with Storyline, correct? I wanted to double check since this is a Rise thread.
The ability to download videos actually came with a change in Chrome, not Storyline. Google Chrome versions 55 and later let you download videos from published courses when these conditions are true:
You enabled Show Video Controls.
You're viewing HTML5 output.
You'll see a download arrow on the right end of the video control bar in Google Chrome.
If you don't want learners to download videos from your courses, you'll need to disable the video controls in Storyline before publishing. If you've enabled the seekbar for your course, learners will still be able to pause, fast forward, and rewind videos.
hi. My videos - on RISE - are automatically downloading when you go to the training page - and they don't play inside the RISE course page. :( It works fine on Firefox.
I used an iframe code with videos coming from amazon s3
It looks like the link you're using is a direct download link. Instead of using an Embed block with an iFrame code, have you considered uploading the MP4 file directly using a Video lesson or block? Here's a sample of what that would look like!

Unfortunately, no. This course is for a client, and I was not the original creator so I don't have access to the original video file. I was hoping to just download the video so that I could make an edit. I was able to right click and download the videos last time I was making edits, but I see that you had a release that blocks that now, which is unfortunate.
There are quite a few videos throughout the course, and making the learners download the video from an attachment versus just being able to click play isn't really the greatest design from a user perspective.
I understand the desire to protect intellectual property, but rather than the all or nothing approach it would be nice to have a settings option to allow downloads or not.
Ah, I understand, Colin. If you export your course for Web or LMS, you'll have zipped output that contains all your media assets. Your video file will be in the assets folder of that output!
Your learners can watch the video in the Rise 360 lesson if you add it using a video block. They'll be able to click play right in Rise 360. If they need to download the video for viewing outside of your course, you can make it available to them using the attachment block.
Oh my gosh, the .zip file! Thank you, Crystal, for reminding me about that. I had contacted Articulate Support for help, and the person did not mention this, and his workaround isn't working.

Were users able to download video in storyline 1? It seems like this option all of a sudden appeared in SL3. My client hates it.

Ok, so what if I want to allow people to download the videos. Is there a way to disable the block?
