Can I import my existing courses into Rise?

Many thanks

Ros - I just want to make sure we're talking about the same thing.

We are working on a feature that lets you import a Storyline project as a lesson within Rise. So say your Rise course has 8 lessons. And on lesson 5, you want to include a custom-designed interaction created in Storyline. Like a dial interaction for example, or anything highly custom that you can't produce in Rise directly. So, you would be able to publish that Storyline project to Articulate 360 and then import it into Rise. Usually one-slide or few-slide interactions will be ideal for this use case, not importing full courses into Rise because that's kind of weird to have a course within a course.

I wanted to point this out because it may have sounded like you wanted to "convert" Storyline courses to Rise which is not something we support. However, with Storyline 360, you will be able to utilize the responsive player if your main objective is multi-device support.

Hi
I wasn't keen on the slide-by-slide display in Storyline as I wanted to be able to scroll through the course. I initially created my courses in Storyline but moved over to Robohelp which did allow me to scroll through the sections of the course if one of the sections was a large one and contained a large amount of text and I wasn't limited.

When I looked at your demo, it appeared that you were able to scroll through the screens and that's what I'd like to do.

Iit was my Director who wanted to be able to scroll through the sections and Storyline didn't do this. Rise looked like it would accommodate us.

Thanks again
Ros

Yes Ros, you're exactly right. Rise will allow the scrolling type of experience you and your director are wanting. It's ready to go today for just that experience and it will run flawlessly on any device.

Just note that you can't convert your Storyline courses to Rise. But you might be surprised that with a little copy-and-pasting and importing of media how quickly your Rise courses will come together.

Thanks Adam - actually that sounds absolutely fine - copy & paste is useful and I'm sure it will do the job.

When you say "importing" I'm assuming that there isn't an actual Import functionality and that you mean just copy and paste as you would a piece of text. Is that correct?

That's right, Ros.

Rise will support all of your existing content. Text, audio, video, etc. It's just that there's no button that says "Import course" and does it all in one fell swoop.

BTW, your replies via email are including your signature with all your contact details and your legal disclaimer. Feel free to edit those out on the E-Learning Heroes site.

Hi Kerri!

It's still on the roadmap, and we're targeting Q3 of this year.

While we're still working on that feature you could insert a published Storyline course using an iframe.

  1. Publish your Storyline course for web
  2. Upload the published folder to your web server.
  3. Take the story.html link and place inside this iFrame code:
    <iframe src="insert URL here"></iframe>
  4. Copy the iFrame code into the URL/Embed  Lesson type or one of the Block types with Multimedia
  5. Use the Share link or Export your Rise course.

Hi Ashley,

Is there a section on the Articulate profile, similar to Articulate Review, where I can upload a Storyline course to create this link in step 3? Our web server is SharePoint and does not have the compatibility to upload a course that I can embed into Rise, and I don't want to use a link to our LMS where courses are published.

Any advise would be welcome.

Thanks a million,

Michael
