I had a similar problem earlier and it seemed to be a size issue - I was trying to insert a big gif and got this message a couple of times. When I replaced it with a smaller file it uploaded without any issues.
I ran into this same issue today when uploading a .GIF file. First, I tried restarting the browser, but the problem persisted.
I ended up getting the file to upload properly by downgrading the quality of the animation. I went from a 79 MB to 38 MB file. Then, the file uploaded without the error and the animation played smoothly.
Thanks for reaching out and sharing what you are seeing. I see your post here as well, with some additional information which verifies that you're seeing the same error reported here.
We do have this reported for larger gif files (over 50mb), but yours is well within that limit.
Would you be able to share the gif file with our team here so that we can take a look?
I'm not aware of any way to do this. GIFs play automatically on a loop, so there's no way to make them start/stop at a specific time. If that's something that's important in this specific case, I would suggest using a video instead of a GIF.
If there's anything else I can do to help, please let me know!

Hi Jeff! What kind of lesson or block type are you using to insert your .GIF? Also, is this happening in more than one course?
You should be able to use a .GIF anywhere an image file is supported.

When I face this issue (with PNGs and JPEGs) I close my browser and try again. Thankfully it seems to work.

Thanks for starting this thread @Jeff Lukas.
I'm trying to upload a 12 mb gif and it doesn't work. Some work... others don't... but there is no difference in the export.

I just went through this and the only thing that worked was restarting my computer. Hope this helps you!
Thanks so much for popping in to share Jacquelynn :)

Hi,
How to make the GIF start where you want when you want?
I added one .gif but it seems to loop in the background, meaning when I get to it as a user, it may start for me mid of the GIF.
I want all users to start at the beginning of the GIF, not midstream or at the end.
Maybe have an actual play button, etc.
How to? Or work around?
Thanks.

Hi Camilla, Is there a way of inserting a GIF in Rise without the URL showing up in the final preview?
Hi Marian! I just replied to your similar discussion here. We can keep the conversation going in that thread if you'd like!
