Just playing with Rise and wanted to know if it is going to be made available as a download (like Prezi) for offline use?
Being able to have local copy would allow training that we can't upload to a cloud server to be developed in Rise and then uploaded to our own internal LMS.
Currently Rise content can't be viewed offline and users will need to access within a supported browser.
Given that, our community members are incredibly creative and one has already determined how to set it up to be an "app" style and likely that would work offline for you!

That is why I was asking about being able to download Rise (like Prezi desktop offers) to be able to work offline.

Hi Justin, thanks for the update. I already use Storyline and I after using Rise, it was more responsive in a mobile environment which we work in. I'll just have to stick with Storyline :(
Rise courses can be exported as AICC, SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, and Tin Can API (xAPI) packages to be hosted in your learning management system. Here's how:
Click Export in the upper right corner of the screen.
Choose an LMS specification, then click Export in the upper right corner.
You'll see a notification when your course is ready for export. Click the Export button on the notification to proceed. (If Rise finds any errors in your course, such as a blank lesson, you'll be asked if you want to edit the course or continue with the export.)
After a few moments of processing, you'll be prompted to download the zip file to your computer. Choose a location and click Save.
Click OK to acknowledge the export successful message.
Click Cancel in the upper right corner to return to your Rise course.
After exporting your Rise course as an LMS package, simply upload the zip file to your LMS and distribute it to your learners.
Also Ashley .. I am rapidly putting together a media training course in rise, consists g of text pages image pages, interactions videos .. All very professional .. But what I want to do is voice the entire text side of the course like you would in a proper learning course .. The only issue is that sometime the text covers more than the page in other words you need to scroll down to see the end of the text .. If I am voicing that do you see that as an issue.. I have a proper learning course that has been done by e3learning and with any page with text and my voice the page doesn’t need to be scrolled .. hope you understand.

As far as a hosting location where you could also sell the courses that is not something Articulate currently offers. Articulate Online is available for hosting courses (although is not compatible with hosting Rise content currently) but it does not have the structure to process payments for course access. You'd need to do that externally and then provide log in information to the customers.
In regards to your voice and text sync up - are you looking for the page to automatically scroll based on the audio or limit the amount of text on the page? I'm not sure I'm clear what behavior you'd like to see. There isn't a way to make the page scroll based on the audio used, and limited the text on the page is possible and author controlled - but depending on each device that a user may be accessing it on, the amount of text visible would vary. Perhaps if you have an example of a course already set up as such you could share a link for us to take a look and offer suggestions based on that.
Ashley yes you make a good point about the amount of text on a page .. that does depend on the demise you are looking at my course on.
I am using lots of video in my course so maybe I do not need to use voice for all of my script .. Are people these day who are doing compliance training (Mine is media training teaching a business how their staff should handle the media in a crisis from the receptionist to the CEO.)used to reading the text rather than having a voice talking to them?? I don’t know.

I'm not an instructional designer, so it would be hard for me to say with certainty what other courses or the preeminent solution may be for video and text with voice over. I'd defer to our community members for additional ideas there, and you may also want to post that query in the Building Better Courses side of the forums as that is where a lot more how to/design style questions are.
In my personal experience and previous educational background, I'd look at providing information to folks in a few different ways - so a video to watch, text to read, and an interactive element to test out their knowledge or allow them to draw mental connections between information. That way you're more likely to touch a number of different styles of learners and those who can absorb the information in all the styles mentioned are actually getting reinforcements to their learning.
Hi, could you expand on how one would set this up as an app? I've started creating rapid courses in Rise, we are opting to not publish to our LMS, will most likely use the share link in our intranet, unless there is a better non LMS option?

Click Share in the upper right corner of the screen and copy the shareable link.
Send the link to your learners.
Learners' progress won't be saved, so if they launch your course more than once using a shareable web link, their progress will be reset to 0% and they'll be taken back to the beginning of the course. If you want learners to be able to resume where they left off, you'll need to export your Rise course as an LMS package as described below.

I too work in an environment where sensitive information is used and therefore am unable to utilize Rise for our internal training programs. I love the functionality of Rise and sure wish it was available as a stand-alone product and not cloud-based. I think it would benefit everyone greatly. Not sure why it has to be tied to the cloud / Articulate servers. I understand it is browser based but having a local authoring version would be amazing.
Thanks Eric for that insight! Rise is just one of the tools in Articulate 360, so you may also want to look at the desktop authoring apps such as Storyline or Studio. One of the great things about Articulate 360 is that you do have access to each tool, and there are different reasons why you may use one over the other.

Wanted to check in on updates to this discussion. Like others here, I use Rise and Storyline, and have courses in both applications. I wanted to add my voice to those that would like to see Rise available as an offline authoring tool, like Storyline. I often work remotely, and sometimes my network is spotty, so having the offline option would make the tool much more convenient to use.
Please let me know if any updates on this.. In case, if we opt not to renew subscription due to any reason. I would like to download source copy of my work. How can we do the same.

Rise is a web application so you would need access to the web. You can publish them to your LMS though as you can see in this documentation.
Just to be clear here because the topic can be confusing.
To author in Rise, you'll need to be online. But once your course is done, you can download it and it will run anywhere you put it. :-)

For the foreseeable future, Rise is all about web-based authoring that produces gorgeous, lightweight, inherently-responsive courses.
On the other hand, if you're looking for the most powerful desktop authoring tool on the planet, Storyline lets you build any course you can imagine.

If you don't have an LMS, you can use the Web link option.
Here's how:
