New Rise Feature: Export as PDF

May 02, 2018

Today we released a new feature in Rise that I think you’ll appreciate—especially those of you who work in highly regulated industries! Now you can export your Rise courses as PDF files for easy printing and meeting regulatory requirements.

Hi Carla,

I see your other posts here, sorry if they were flagged! That can happen when you're posting too quickly or you're sharing a lot of attachments in a short period of time.

To clarify, you're seeing an issue with text overlapping in the Export to PDF option when there are two letter F's in a row, or a set of two letters that would appear after the letter E? Does everything in the Rise course look normal using the Preview/Share link, and it's only the export? Have you seen this in all lessons?

Hi Diane,

When you're using a Labelled graphic and you Export to PDF, what we'll do it:

  • We take a screenshot of the Labeled Graphic image with markers to get the full picture.

  • Then we print the Labeled Graphic image with the active marker, and print its marker contents.

It sounds like you may be seeing something different. Could you share a copy of it here so that we can take a look?

Hi Diane,

Thanks! This PDF and link to the course help and make a lot more sense!  Am I correct in noting that the markers are gone after lesson 8, but that the images and text contained in the markers are still appearing in your PDF?

Have you noticed this only on this course, or any courses with more than a handful of labeled graphics in them? Also, in case it may be browser specific, can you let me know what browser(s) you're using to Export to PDF?

Hi Michael,

Do you have a lot of images in your course? I know I ran into a similar issue last week, that our team is looking into, where a course which had upwards of 30 high quality, detailed images and it would freeze the export to PDF.

If you think that matches what you're seeing, let me know and I can send details on how to share your Rise course with me to confirm.

I exported a course to a PDF and I'm seeing inconsistent font sizes in the PDF, even though the text in the course is all the same size.  Attachment 1 shows different font sizes for section headings on the same page.  Attachment two shows two content pages side by side.  The second page text is much larger than the first page.  Any idea what's causing this?  Again, it's all the same size in RISE

Hi Ella,

Thanks for the images, and I was curious if you could also let me know what lesson types each of these pages are? Also, if you're able to share a copy of your Rise course with us, please let me know! You can reach out to our Support team and they'll share directions on how to send them a copy.

These are all blocks. I'll reach out to support. Thanks!
