Rise and scrolling

Dec 05, 2016

Good morning. I noticed something over the weekend that seems like it would impact course completion in an LMS. When I get to the last page of my Rise course, I can see all the text on the page. The bar at the top doesn't show that I completed the page unless I scroll down and it "hits" the bottom of the page. This might be a bit tricky; do you agree?

Hi Cheryl,

What type of content do you have on the last page? I was playing around with it this AM after reading your post and I can see the behavior your describing, but noticed that based on using a block and the padding added to the top and bottom of it, that's adding to the overall page length and what I need to scroll to complete. I'd like to test it a bit further, but wanted to ensure I was setting my course up as you described - are you using the free/restricted navigation? What LMS publishing options did you include as well? Did you already test the course within your LMS or SCORM Cloud (an industry standard for LMS testing) and notice the issues of completion?

Any other information you have to share would be great and I'll share the behavior with our team as well.

Hi, Ashley. I was viewing a shared version on an iPad this weekend. That's when I noticed it not showing a checkmark as complete for that last section unless I truly "hit" the bottom of the screen. I just tested it on my iPhone from within my LMS and it did register as complete on my phone and in the LMS. I'll test the LMS version on an iPad later and see how it does.

The last page was an image with text, free navigation. Thanks!

Hi Cheryl,

Thanks for sharing that. Did it register in your LMS as complete prior to scrolling to the bottom or once you did scroll to the bottom on your iPhone? My initial thought is this is by design, to ensure that the user takes a look at everything on the screen (even if they can see it all, based on the extra padding for things like the blocks it's still longer than just the text). I'm going to give it another test as well and confirm some things with our team, so I'll be back in touch soon!

Thanks, Ashley. My phone is not as sensitive as the iPad. With the iPad, there was still a lot of scrolling capability to get it to hit the bottom.

I'll test it again on my iPad as soon as I can. I'm having a problem clearing the pass data from the LMS. I just thought I'd mention it because it seemed like it could become an issue.
