Hello. Has anyone used Rise to create a software training platform similar to a Lynda.com set-up? I'm looking to do a software training using a series of 5-minute videos as separate lesson plans (like Lynda.com, Digital tutors, etc). I'll probably do the screen recording in Storyline and convert the Storyline files to videos, and then upload the videos to Rise.
I'm also wondering if there are any limitations to doing this like video file size or the number of videos used.
While Rise doesn't have a built-in screencasting tool, I think there are lots of ways you can include screencasts and simulations in Rise.
Peek: Rise supports embedded video so you can record training videos and screencasts that can be added to your Rise courses.
Labeled Graphic lesson: Rise's labeled graphic lesson is a great way to create interactive screenshots in Rise courses. Using screenshots from a software tool, you can add interactive markers that contain text, audio, and video.
Process lesson: The process lesson is ideal for walking users through a series of steps to show them how to do something in a software tool.
Sorting Activity: Good way to let users practice identifying which tool or feature will allow them to accomplish a specific task in a tool.
Thanks for your response. I was planning on using a screencasting tool and then uploading the videos to Rise. Do you have any recommendations about video file size? Should they be 720p or 1080p? Also, I'm a little concerned about overloading the system with too many videos. Are you aware of any issues with this?
I'd recommend using high-quality videos with a 16:9 aspect ratio for the best results in your published courses. The maximum file size you can upload for each video is 5 GB.
Also, Rise will compress your videos so they have smaller file sizes while maintaining quality.
