Rise - Quiz Scoring for multiple quiz blocks

Apr 20, 2018

I have a course built that has 10 questions spread over 5 quiz blocks. The user experience would be improved if I could hide the % scored for each individual quiz block and produce a final quiz score block that would report back/ marker of completion via SCORM. I know I can do this in ST360, however, the branding and approved look is in the RISE platform at this time.

Thanks for reaching out, Hugh.  It sounds like your Rise course contains multiple quizzes, is that right?

Currently Rise will track one quiz result to send to a LMS.  I understand your needs, though, and we're tracking requests to combine multiple quiz results within Rise.

I'll keep you posted if anything develops!

One thing I would say as a workaround would be to leverage the use of the Continue button to lock content and navigation.  Learners have to complete blocks in order to move on.  If you place the final quiz or final task at the end of the Rise course, then they are forced to work through all of the content to move forward.  I embed Storyline interactions throughout and use the Complete Course trigger in Storyline to trigger the Continue button.  If they get to the end, Rise will track the final quiz result or Storyline block in the LMS. Rest assured, the learner had to complete all of the content in order to get to the end.

I do wish there was better control over what is reported.  For example, I build sight singing exercises in Rise, and there are 100 exercises.  My teachers would like to see which exercises the students have completed.  There is no way to do this inside of Rise.  I am looking at using Storyline for this, but I hate to leave Rise as the user experience is great, especially for mobile.

I agree with everyone this would be a useful feature. My actual problem right now is slightly different however, I would like to be able to send the data from multiple quizzes in one Rise to different columns in grade centre. I realise there are other ways to do this, but the best student experience would not be to have them jump between multiple rise courses. Thanks for any advice!

Hi Luisa,

It sounds like you want access to question-level results from multiple quizzes in a Rise course is that correct?

Rise reports raw data from all quizzes in a course. You’ll just need to understand how to work with your LMS to extract that detail.

I’d recommend reaching out to your LMS vendor for more information.

In the meantime, if I can help with anything else please let me know

I'm starting w Rise now, and am reading through these comments to anticipate issues that will affect how we set it up.

I'm starting with 8 courses... each has 4 lessons which require a 5-question knowledge check. Are the results and overall scores of each of the four captured when Rise is integrated into an LMS?
