Rise Translation: XLIFF edit and upload

I am trying to upload an edited XLIFF file back in to my Rise course. Now to make things more complex we are working in Excel and I dont want use cloud for translation or install any software.

Don't worry it was easy enough to use Excel and paste back in notepad++. So Just replacing the english text. 

I am able to successful import in to my course but nothing changes. I have perfectly replaced all english text with Spanish nothing changed.

I suspect that it has something to with adding in source-language="en-US". So I know I have fundamentally missed how XLIFF work. 

But forgetting that is there a way to import my xliff where I have just replaced the english text?

Hi Verne,

XLIFF files are not meant to be edited manually. The code they use to generate the translations is complex and not easy to correctly manipulate by hand unless you have a good understanding of how XLIFF files work. It sounds like you may be replacing the source text (the original translation) and not the target text (the translated version).

I'm not a XLIFF expert either, so unfortunately I can't give you any further guidance on how to make this work.

Is your reason for not using cloud-based software security-related? If so, I would look into installing translation software on your machine or working with a translation company.
