Styling Courses in Rise

Jul 20, 2017

Other than editing the CSS of the publish file, will there soon be a way where we can manually set the colour of the text in a course?

I still feel that branding and styling is quite limited in Rise. My point alone is a good indication of that.

Thanks :)

Hi Alex,

Custom font color is on the roadmap for later this year! You can also change fonts and choose from these eight fonts in Rise: Lato, Raleway, Roboto, Open Sans, Merriweather, Lora, Roboto Slab, and Maitree.

And we've got adding custom fonts on the roadmap!

You'll also find options to set the theme colors associated Rise, change the text labels, and identify a cover photo.

What other styling elements would you like to see in future updates to Rise?

Hi Chantal,

When we first released Rise, we shied away from auto-play media because it's really non-standard on mobile devices. In fact, most phone browsers actually prevent auto-play of media; it needs to be user-initiated.

Where is the content hosted that you're grabbing the iframe code from? Can you share the code here with us?

Would love to see the ability to change font in any text block irrespective of theme. You have all the functions of bold, italic, indents, superscript etc so it would be great to just add ability to select different fonts (not just the ones in rise) as well.

Oh, nearly forgot - more detail on spacing and leading pls. Some of the leading in our courses is huge! Thanks!

I find Rise really useful for being able to concentrate on the content, without having to spend time adding or amending CSS.

I like that the authoring tool generates responsive packages, that tend to render well across different devices and resolutions.

However, there are regrettably some instances in which I must revert back to using the Adapt framework, in order to meet the specification of a project.

For me, this could easily be resolved by being able to add parallax scrolling backgrounds within a Rise course. Additionally, I would like to see more interactive components added in the future.

A lot of my Rise lessons are just one video. When I do this, I dislike how much padding is built into the Lessons. The video ends up displayed half-hidden and you have to scroll.

I end up publishing and editing the CSS file after. I'd love (1) a reduced padding option for people like me OR (2) an advanced CSS editor that let's me add my own custom CSS over-rides on a project (and that then let's me copy it to other projects).
