Thin popup boxes on labeled graphic interaction

Nov 30, 2016

Hi all,

Thought I would share as it may be useful to some.

I added a very thin image to a graphic interaction and the pop up boxes became very thin like this:

I figured if you increase the length of the image then the boxes show up correctly.

I did this in power point by adding a big white rectangle  to the back of the image and then selecting both and save as picture.

Hi Nigel,

Thank you for sharing that here and including so much detail! I'm able to replicate the same behavior so I'm going to report it to our team to investigate further as that certainly doesn't look good!

I'll be in touch here once I have some additional information to share, but I'm also glad to see you were able to find a workaround as well!

Hi Victoria,

Thanks for your patience. I wanted to update you and let you know that our QA team took a look at this, and it's expected behavior based on using that thin image and we'll only be able to include the marker text in the same width as the image - so you'll need to continue using the workaround you mentioned to add some additional whitespace on the sides of your image and that would allow the marker pop up to have a wider view and let the text display as you'd like.

Hope that helps clarify and please keep us posted if you need anything else!

Hi Ursula,

Thanks for those screenshots! Is the Labeled Graphic image very narrow? If so, adding more width to the image should do the trick.

I'd be interested in taking a closer look at this interaction, if you don't mind sharing it with me. Simply copy the "Share" link and paste it in a new thread comment, or send it privately here.

The thin popup box appeared for the embedded URL, not for a graphic.
The tester was using IE11. I asked him to use Chrome instead, and it was worked okay.
Once our LMS is up and running it will be okay, because they have to use Chrome for that.
I've shared the file so that you can see what it is doing if you want.

Hi there, Ursula.  Thanks for sharing the link to your course, and especially where to find that lesson. 😁 The image Alyssa was referring to was the main labeled graphic image.  In your case, it would be the timeline image.  We addressed an issue with narrow images causing the markers to open very thin.

I tested on IE 11 in my Windows 10 environment, and here's what I saw:

The embedded content and the overall marker size looked appropriate to me.  If he's consistently seeing the thin pop-up in IE 11, could you find out what Windows version he's using?
