Types of Video Files Compatible in Rise

Jan 11, 2019

Hi! I am having a hard time finding information on the types of videos available to upload in Rise. I am looking at a video software and want to make sure before we get it that I can put it in our Rise courses.

I know you can upload .mp4 videos to Rise, but can you upload .MOV , AVI , or .WMV files as well?

Thank you

Hi, Leanne!

It sounds like you tried importing a video file into Storyline 360, and your Storyline file was corrupted. So sorry that happened!

Storyline should convert AVI files to MP4, so you shouldn't have to use an outside tool to do that. We'd be happy to have a closer look at the video file, if you don't mind sharing it here. We'll delete it when we're done testing.

I am trying to insert a MP4 file into RISE with a file size of 15,638,160 bytes.  I have inserted other MP4 files into RISE without any issues.  But I get the message that it could not be loaded because the format is not supported or the server /network failed.  I have a very strong internet connection.

Hi there,

Thanks for the reply but I cant seem to get it to work. I have published the course to review 360, and I can see it there. But when I go to add the Storyline Block, it says I have not published any courses yet.

Can you let me know I can resolve this please?

Cheers,

Dominic

Hi Dominic,

It sounds like you may be logged in to your Articulate 360 desktop app and the web apps with two different email addresses.

Let's try this:

  • Log out of the the Articulate 360 desktop app by clicking your profile icon and selecting Sign Out. Here's a screenshot of what I mean.
  • Log out of 360.articulate.com by clicking the same icon in the upper-right corner and selecting Sign Out.
  • Log back into both the desktop app and 360.articulate.com with the same email address.
  • Republish the Storyline 360 course to Review 360, and you should see the course appear correctly in Review 360.

Let me know how it goes!

Hi there,

Unfortunately, it is still not working for me. I have attached two screen shots which show the course in Review and the screen shot when I try to link to it in Rise.

That was really helpful, Dominic! I can see from your Review 360 dashboard that you published Presenter 360 courses using a PowerPoint presentation. We'll actually need to import those presentations into Storyline 360 to use them in your Rise 360 course. Here's how:

  • Open Storyline 360, and choose to Import. You can choose this presentation from your saved files. Tip: You may need to adjust your slide size in Storyline to make sure it matches your PowerPoint slide size.
  • Preview your presentation in Storyline to make sure it still looks the way you want.
  • Publish your presentation to Review 360 from Storyline.
  • When you add your Storyline block in Rise 360, you should now be able to select that presentation.

Let me know if you hit any bumps!
