This may be a dumb question - with Storyline we use the index_lms.html file in our LMS, but when I export a Rise course for LMS I'm not given this option.
If I use the index.html file in the "scormcontent" folder then the course completion and score does not get sent back to our LMS. Note that I exported the Rise course for LMS > AICC (I've also tried SCORM 1.2) > Track using Quiz Result > Passed/ Failed (I've also tried Passed/ Incomplete but it didn't work either).
Z, if you export from Rise for LMS it should give you a SCORM package, and when you load that SCORM package to your LMS, your LMS should automatically read (from the imsmanifest.xml file) which page is the start page.
In most Learning Management Systems, you don’t have to manually point to a specific file to launch content, as long as that content is compliant with SCORM, AICC, or xAPI. You simply upload a compliant zip file, and if the LMS is compliant with the same standard, it knows where to look to find the files that launch the content.
For example, the AICC Packaging Specification says that the .au file (at the root of the zip file) tells the LMS everything it needs to know about how to launch and track the content.
If you are using an AICC LMS that needs to be manually told where to find the assignable unit in a Rise course, it is located at scormdriver/indexAPI.html, but I’m a little nervous that the LMS may not pick up everything it needs to know from that file. Contrast this with testing your content at SCORM Cloud and you'll see how streamlined the process can be.
Unfortunately we have to point our LMS to a specific file. I tried the file scormdriver/indexAPI.html but it still didn't record the score or send passed/ fail information back to the LMS.
I have also tested the course at Scorm Cloud and it works there so I know its an issue with our LMS and loading it in the LMS. As I mentioned in the original post, for Storyline files we point the LMS to the index_lms.html file and everything works fine. I just hoped that I could figure it out and it was a simple solution before asking our LMS vendor for their help :)
If your LMS requires you to identify the launch file, point to indexapi.html. For a web-only course, extract the zip package, upload it to your web server, and give learners a link to the index.html file. You can find more information on sharing your Rise course with your learners here.
i identified the launch file, point to indexapi.html but the LMS could not find the source file. This file resides within the "scormdriver" sub-folder and not in the root folder.
I'm having trouble deploying the RISE courseware on the LMS.
I'm not familiar with Learningspace.sg. Did your LMS admin have any insight into if you need to upload the file in a particular way or change what file to use?
I followed the instructions given by the LMS admin. It worked for the SCORM file for the Storyline 2 output before. But not the RISE output. I’ll be meeting them next week to try to resolve it.

Thanks for giving it a shot, Zdravko. Good luck working with your LMS vendor on this, and let us know if you need anything else!
Hi, we use an old LMS (Sap LSO) and it requires the launch file, which used to be index_lms.html.
WIth Rise, I cant see how the course is launched, either in LMS or just as a web page.
Am I missing something
I've not played much with the LMS output, but it looks like the imsmanifest.xml file points to "scormdriver/indexAPI.html".
There's also an "index.html" file under the scormcontent folder, but I don't believe that's the best file to point an LMS to.

Hi there, Kim. Generally, having the index files in the sub folder should not prevent LMS playback of your content. Which LMS are you using?
Thanks Crystal. The LMS is Learningspace.sg.

Hi Ashley,

Thanks Kim, and please let us know what your LMS team determines as well!
We resolved the issue. It required us to specify the directory in which the launch file was located.
Thanks Kim - I'm happy to hear it.
