Ability to Block Add Identical Triggers on All or Named Slides
Idea:
Provide the ability to prevent adding duplicate (identical) triggers across all slides or specific named slides.
Current limitation:
It is easy to accidentally create duplicate triggers, especially in large or complex courses. There is currently no mechanism to detect or prevent identical triggers being added.
In courses with many slides (e.g. 300–400 slides), duplicate triggers can:
- Cause unexpected behaviour (e.g. actions firing multiple times)
- Make debugging difficult
- Increase clutter in the trigger panel
These duplicates are often introduced during copying, pasting, or iterative edits and may go unnoticed until testing.
Suggested improvement:
Introduce an option to block or warn users when attempting to add an identical trigger. This could include:
- Project-level setting to prevent duplicate triggers
- Slide-level control for named slides
- Warning message when a duplicate trigger is detected
- Option to override if needed
Use case:
When building or updating complex logic (e.g. variables, navigation, or conditions), authors can avoid accidentally adding the same trigger multiple times, especially when working across many slides.
Benefit:
- Prevents unintended duplicate actions
- Simplifies debugging and maintenance
- Keeps trigger panels clean and manageable
- Improves consistency and reliability in large courses
