Ability to Block Align Pictures Across All Slides
Idea:
Provide the ability to prevent users from aligning pictures across all slides or specific named slides.
Current limitation:
When working with images across multiple slides, it is easy to accidentally use alignment tools (e.g. align left, centre, distribute) in a way that overrides carefully designed layouts.
In larger courses (e.g. 300–400 slides), images are often positioned precisely for consistency. Accidental alignment changes can:
- Disrupt slide layouts
- Cause inconsistencies across the course
- Require manual rework to fix positioning
There is currently no way to restrict or safeguard image alignment actions.
Suggested improvement:
Introduce an option to block or restrict alignment actions for images. This could include:
- A project-level setting to disable alignment tools for pictures
- The ability to apply restrictions to specific slides
- Locking image positions to prevent alignment changes
- Optional override permissions when alignment is intentionally needed
Use case:
When maintaining consistent layouts (e.g. templates, branded slides, or system screenshots), authors can prevent accidental repositioning of images across multiple slides.
Benefit:
- Protects layout consistency across large projects
- Reduces accidental changes and rework
- Saves time when maintaining image-heavy courses
- Improves control over slide design and presentation
