Random Set of Questions for Each Learner

It would be great to have a feature where you can input, for example, 15 quiz questions, but only require the learner to answer 7 of them — with those 7 selected at random by the system. This would mean that different learners get a unique combination of questions each time they take the quiz, even though the assessment is drawn from the same pool.

    Hi steven,

I actually meant in Rise for now — we often use Rise as our main tool to create e-learnings because it’s simple and efficient.
So we were hoping this program would offer a similar option (about the random quiz questions) or maybe in the future, without the need to build the questions in Storyline first.

      Hi TachaVervaet!

Thank you for following up. My apologies for misinterpreting your original post!

I understand you are referring to randomizing questions in Rise 360, not Storyline. I'm happy to share this type of Quiz design is also currently possible in Rise 360. Here's how to set that up:

      1. Create or select a Question Bank: First, ensure you have a Question Bank created. You can manage Question Banks from the Question Banks tab on the dashboard.
      2. Open your Quiz: Navigate to the Quiz where you want to add questions from the Question Bank.
      3. Add questions from the Question Bank:
        • Click Add Question and select Draw from Question Bank.
        • Choose either the Personal or Team Question Banks tab, select a folder, and pick your Question Bank.
        • To randomize your questions, keep the Random Questions option selected, then choose a value from the Number of Questions in Draw menu. This allows you to specify how many questions you want to include in the Quiz.
        • If you prefer non-randomized questions, select Specific Questions from the Draw selection settings drop-down menu and choose your questions.
      4. Insert the Draw: Click Insert Draw to add the selected questions to your Quiz.

Please keep in mind that if the source Question Bank is modified, those changes are not reflected until you edit the Draw. You can click Edit, make any changes to include or exclude new questions, and then click Update Draw.

Also, for your reference, this article goes into further detail on using Question Banks to create Knowledge Checks and Quizzes in Rise 360.

Please let me know if you need anything else!

  • Hi TachaVervaet!

    Happy to help!

This type of Quiz design can be achieved in Storyline with the use of Question Banks and Slide Draws. Here's how:

    1. Create a Question Bank: First, ensure you have a Question Bank containing all of your quiz questions.
    2. Insert a Slide Draw: Select the scene in your course where you want to add the Slide Draw.
    3. Adjust Slide Draw Properties: Here, you can control the settings for how the Question Bank will appear for learners.
      • Draw Questions Randomly is the option you’ll want to select, to randomize the order of your questions.

If you have questions, or you're referring to a different type of enhancement to this existing feature, please let me know!
