Storyline Interface Suggestions

  1. Browser-style Back and Forward buttons. If i am on slide 1.02, switch to 3.04 (which is a popup that gets lightboxed on 1.02), and want to go back, it would be a huge convenience to have a Back button.
  2. When one is scrubbing through the Timeline, please have a display showing the exact time the Playhead is at. I wanted to jump to a specific time ... but I can't tell what time I'm looking at.
  3. Let me freely select the width of the Scenes pane when I'm in Slide view. On a big monitor, I'd love to make it wide enough that I could actually make out the thumbnails. As I sit here, they're the size of pieces of glitter, far too small to be useful visually. What is the justification for preventing me from selecting any width I personally prefer for that pane?

    To help our product team better understand how these improvements could support your workflow, I'd love to learn a bit more:

    • Can you tell us more about how you typically move between related slides while you're building a course? If Storyline had Back and Forward navigation, what would it make easier or faster for you?
    • What kinds of edits are you making when you need to jump to a specific timestamp on the timeline? What's the biggest challenge with the current timeline when you're trying to make precise edits?
    • Can you tell us more about the types of projects where the current thumbnail size becomes a limitation? If you could resize the Scenes pane however you wanted, how would that change the way you navigate or organize your project?

    As for the navigation question: I'm working on a course in which one can navigate between slides in a non-linear way, jumping from A to D to B and back to A. The default in Storyline is alway Prev/Next, but that's only used for the first three slides of this one. (It's a 3D tour.) I hide those buttons because they're never used. If I have a button (actually a marker in a 360 interaction) that jumps A to D, I often want to work on D, then jump back to A. A Back button a la all web browsers since Mosaic would be very useful to me in that situation. I could Back/Forward between them to get their interaction correct.

    Timestamping: in my current course, there is an introductory video that I want to skip past when someone is reviewing content. 

    The thumbnail size is a problem whenever you're trying to find a slide and you have more than about 7 in the Scene. The thumbnail images are about 2mm across, and you only get two characters of the slide title. You can zoom in, but you have to do it over and over, because they unzoom whenever you navigate. If I could just make the panel  wider, they'd be permanently larger.
