Slide Layers & Layer Visibility

Add a slide trigger to your main slide that shows the "special Layer" when all three buttons are in Visited state.

I would suggest adding a trigger to show the layer once all three buttons have been visited. Something like this....

This would make it so the layer appeared when the slide started once all buttons had been visited. Is that what you are looking for?

You will have to create variables to make this happen.

1. Create Variables for each button that will track if they have been visited. Set initial value to false.

2. Then on the main slide where the layer you want to show, add a trigger to show the layer when timeline starts if variables = true.

Thank you for the reply Michael. This worked. Didn't even think of applying triggers to layers.  Thank you. 

I'm running into a different dilemma now. I'm seeing a few components of the base layer underneath the new layer. I've applied triggers to hide and disable the components, but that doesn't seem to be working.  Any ideas how I should tackle this one?

In your layer's properties dialog, try selecting the 'Hide Objects on Baselayer' option. Or your can selectively turn on/off elements on the baselayer by selecting the Show/Hide option for baselayer elements in your layer's timeline.

This is the first course I'm building in Articulate and don't therefore have any experience working with variables. Will have to find a tutorial. 

Here is a good set of introductory tutorials regarding variables.

When I first learned about variables (working with a completely different program), someone described them as buckets that hold different types of information. What's in a given bucket doesn't change until you tell the program to change it. The simplest variable is True/False. A number variable can also be set up and adjusted by math operators (e.g., "add 1 to a variable when user clicks a given button; perform an action when variable = a certain number). A text variable holds any string of characters, e.g., a user's name.

Some of Storyline's variable settings are a bit quirky, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be amazed at the control they offer.

OK, I found a solution to my latest problem.

I changed the base layer slide property menu to: Resume Saved State for When Revisiting from the default Automatically Decide.
