I just changed the slide master for my quiz feedback slides, and then changed the layout for the incorrect and correct answers. When I went back to my regular slides I noticed that the slide layers all changed to the layout that I used for quiz question feedback. Why is that?
Can you clarify the steps that you took? If you can, create a new project & show us the steps with a screencast from screenr.com. I think that'll help clear up any confusion about the issue that you're seeing.
I licensed a production copy, which I downloaded. As soon as I modified a feedback master the layers on my regular slides reflected this master. Here's the link to the screenr I created to show the problem. Let me know if you need anything else. https://player.vimeo.com/video/204931425
In the case subject, put Attention Brian Batt and it should come straight to me. After you've uploaded, reply with your case number just in case it gets routed to support.
Can you send me a version with your quiz questions so that I can replicate exactly what you're doing? When you upload the file via the previous link, put the following in the subject line so that it doesn't create a new case:
Case # 00277686: slide layouts for layers problem (FILE UPLOAD) [ref:_00D30Txo._50040JwuyO:ref]
Brian - Sorry...trying to do too many things simultaneously today. I uploaded the wrong file originally. I just uploaded the story file with the quiz questions. I put the case number in the subject line. Again..my apologies.
You might have noticed , base layers use Slide Masters all secondary layers or new layers created above the base slide layer use the default Blank Feedback Master. So if the you modify the Blank Feedback Master, this will apply to all slide layers using this layout. To prevent this from happening, you should do the following.
1. Select the View Tab -> Feedback Master button.
2. Right-click the Blank layout (typically the bottom layout in the thumbnail list), and select Duplicate Layout.
3. Modify the duplicated layout to match your design requirements.
In your case, you should then deleted all of the elements you added to the original or default blank feedback master layout.
Please note, it's by design that the secondary slide layers or new layers created above the base slide layer will always be treated as a feedback layer. These layers default to the Blank Feedback layouts when created.
Thanks David. I did not know that layers used the default blank feedback master. That is the one I modified - thinking that nothing was using it - wrong! Thanks for the tip. I'll make the change.
Just to clarify, not all of the slide layers use the Feedback Master, only new layers created above the default base layer (bottom layer). The base layer will use the default Slide Master. This can be seen by doing the following:
1. Selecting a base slide layer then the Home Tab --> Layout
- Only the Slide Master Layouts are available in the list
2. Selecting a layer above the base slide layer then the Home Tab --> Layout
- Only the Feedback Master Layouts are available in the list

Brian - uploaded 'new story.story' - Case #00277686 was created. I'm sorry - I didn't put your name in the subject line.

Deb,
You might have noticed , base layers use Slide Masters all secondary layers or new layers created above the base slide layer use the default Blank Feedback Master. So if the you modify the Blank Feedback Master, this will apply to all slide layers using this layout. To prevent this from happening, you should do the following.

I hope this helps!

Deb,
Just to clarify, not all of the slide layers use the Feedback Master, only new layers created above the default base layer (bottom layer). The base layer will use the default Slide Master. This can be seen by doing the following:
1. Selecting a base slide layer then the Home Tab --> Layout
