Slide Numbering in the left navigation bar

Oct 23, 2012

Hello,

is there a possibility to adjust the slide-numbering of the menu in a published Articulate WBT. At the moment the slide numbering is linear and does not mirror the Level of each slide.

For example a WBT has 10 slides. At the moment  the slides are numbered from 1, 2, 3...up to 10 in the left hand menu.

If slide 4 and 5 are on the sub-level 2 of slide 3, I would appreciate  if this would be displayed by the numbering as follows: 1,  2,   3, 3.1, 3.2,      4,    5,    6,    7,    8,     9,    10.

Is there a trick how to adjust this in the template player of Articulate Presenter?

Thank you in advance!

Sunny regards from Frankfurt, Germany

Good Afternoon Julia, and welcome to Heroes!

To remove the standard slide numbers from the tabs in the navigation panel and use an alternate numbering format, do the following:

  1. Open your presentation in PowerPoint.
  2. Go to Articulate -> Player Templates.
  3. Select the Other tab.
  4. Deselect the check box "Display slide numbers in navigation tabs".
  5. Click the Close button, and save the change when prompted.
  6. Go to Articulate -> Slide Properties.
  7. In the "Navigation Title" column, type the numbering format you would like to use before the title for each slide.  For example:

"3.1 - Your slide title here"

Then, click the OK button to close Slide Properties, and publish your presentation.

Please let us know if you need anything else.  Thanks!

Good Morning, Debbie.

Similar to the Presenter work-around above, in Storyline could you simply deselect the "Number entries in the menu automatically" option when Customizing the Player Menu and then prefix the Scene Titles and Slide Titles in Story View with your alternate numbering format?

Please let us know what you think.  Thanks!

Hi Justin

Thanks for your reply , can I confirm when you say 'prefix the Scene Titles and Slide Titles in Story View' - do you mean manually add a slide number for each slide?

If so, I was hoping to avoid having to do it manually

Whilst possible, it is very time consuming to have to do something like this manually!

Perhaps it is another formatting area to be improved in SL, like the fact there are no bullet options, only circle :-(

Thanks for the reply though, I appreciate knowing, even if it is just to confirm the only way is manually, but would hope this to be a change in the near future for SL!
