Storyline on latest macbook pro

Aug 27, 2013

Hi

I have recently installed demo storyline onto my new mac laptop with parallels . However when I open a project created elsewhere, the content of the "slides" are corrupted and the items are displaced and minimised. The same project works fine on my old iMac running the same operating systems and programs. Is this a storyline issue or a mac issue?

Hi Mark and welcome to Heroes!

When you said, created elsewhere - were they created in Powerpoint by chance? Have you also checked the DPI settings to ensure they're at 96 DPI?

You'll also want to be sure you're following some basic rules to prevent strange behavior:

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

Hi Mark,

Glad the DPI setting worked and got everything back to normal!

Yogesh, is it happening on one particular file or everytime you work in Storyline? If it's one particular file, try to import it into a new Storyline project. You'll also always want to make sure that you're working locally (not off a network drive or USB) as that can cause erratic behavior.   If it's happening regularly, you may need to conduct a repair of your Storyline software and the supporting Windows software.

Hey guys;

This may be a stupid question but the specs for Storyline say windowsxxxx or Mac running Parallels.  Do you have to install Windows within Parallels or is it just the Parallels program?

My PC laptop caught on fire on my lap the other day and I am thinking about going to the dark (or light) side and getting a MAcbook as it may help in my University writing. Just trying to find out if I need to spend the money on Windows as well.

Thanks

I'm thinking about doing these as well.  I've been a PC person for a very long time because that's what the software (and games) I used was built for.  My next purchase will be a macbook pro.  You'll have to get a windows licence and install it in parralls.  It's like running a computer within a computer.

Anybody know if you could easily transfer files between these two programs?  I want to work on Photoshop/Illustrator in IOS and if I wanted to transfer this to the PC side would it be difficult?  Is it just copy and paste?
