Storyline Sequence Drag and Drop hover colors

Jul 12, 2012

How do I change the hover color for the Sequence Drag and Drop in Storyline? The color that is showing up (default I am assuming) is not in my theme colors so I don't know where to change it. Am I looking in the wrong place and it's not changed in the Custom Theme Colors?

Thanks for any insight!

So, if, for example, on T/F or Multiple Choice...any quiz that has a one-option choice, you click on the quiz option and look at states, you can see the hover color, and you can see that the Control 1 option that Peter mentions above works when changing the hover state.

But, if you try to determine this for sequence drag/drop, matching drop-down, etc., you cannot access a state.

Not only would I like to know how to change this, but I'd like to bring the community's attention to a question posed in the thread I've linked to below, which will probably have a similar solution, because the issue occurs when a quiz question is of a type that doesn't have an individual option button as a choice: How can you get immediate feedback without using Submit

Please read carefully, since the quizzes for which we were unable to find a solution were of the same type described here.

Looking forward to both answers!

Hi Becky,

The matching drop down is a little different from some other question types in that you can't select the choice objects and their states.

If you go with the freeform options, you have a lot more control over the question choice design.

The word bank example is one you could re-create using convert to freeform. Same with sequence drop down only you can't create the drop down menu. Instead, you can use the sorting options built into drag and drop. Sequence drag and drop can also be recreated from scratch and then converted to freeform.

Hope that helps.

I don't see a free form option for sequence D&D

Hi Zbynek,

You're right, there isn't a built-in sequence free form drag and drop. I've put together a story here with 3 slides.

First one is the default graded sequence D&D.

Second and third are slides I put together and then converted to freeform drag and drop.

Neither are as elegant as the default. Perhaps David or someone will take a look and improve upon what I've done.

Slide Two - Closely Mimics the original

3 sets of shapes:

  • Targets for each dragged items; no fill, no outline
  • Text boxes that will be dragged; include a hover state; chose blue fill
  • Separate text boxes for the numbers. Although the numbers can be placed in the target boxes, this didn't seem to work as well as I was playing around with the different drop options.
  • Drop Option: I ended up using stack random, finding it to be the best option here

Slide Three - Looks More like a Standard D&D

2 sets of shapes

  • Targets for the dropped items. Numbers are placed in the boxes and aligned left.
  • Text boxes that will be dragged; include a hover state; chose apricot fill
  • Drop Option: I ended up using free for these.

Hi Stuart and welcome to Heroes!

Sorry we missed this last week (thanks Becky!) but the hover color for the matching drop down is not one that can currently be changed. I'd definitely suggest sharing your thoughts in the form of a feature request, as that helps our product development team to know what our users would need and track the total number of requests.
