I am having a problem with my cursor not showing me the correct place in a text box in Storyline e.g. I click my cursor where I want to start typing but the words type onto a different part of the text box??
I'm having a similar issue, but changing to 100% zoom did not work for me. When I click on a particular area of my slide, it thinks I'm clicking somewhere else. My mouse works fine in all other apps, even other Storyline files. I'm just having issues with this one Storyline course. Can you help?
Hey all - I am experiencing similar issue. When beginning a new project there is no cursor or text place holder text showing. I can type text and when previewing the slide the text is visible, just not when typing it in??? However, if I open an old course there is no issue. Is there a setting that I'm missing? Reinstalled .Net framework to new version, but did not change the issue.
Sorry to hear that this issue has cropped up for you again. I see that you worked directly with our support team last month and you were able to correct your issue.
I would advise a repair of your software install to see if that alleviates the issue.
Is this something you are able to easily replicate? Would it be easier for you to provide instructions or a sample file demonstrating the issue?
I'd be happy to take a closer look.
It also looks like your email signature came through when you replied via email. You can remove that if needed by clicking ‘Edit’ beneath your response. Here’s a quick Peek video if you need help.
Since this behavior shows up when creating a new course I don't have a project file saved. I have attached screen shots that walk through the issue. Thank you for your time on this puzzle appreciate it!
Thanks - Just double checked and when the left side shows blank in the same manner as the slide screen shots I provided. Your recording is what I would have expected.
If it helps - courses that were previously published w/o this issue can be reopened and edited, slides added, etc. as you would expect. Which is the puzzling part.
I wanted to share an update here that my teammate, Joshua, was able to trace David's issue to Modern Text Rendering; looks like disabling Modern Text Rendering did the trick there!
We've got Modern Text sometimes causes slide text to appear incorrectly during preview or in edit mode logged as a possible bug. Really appreciate you bringing this to our attention!
Our team is looking into next steps, and we'll share updates here once we have them!
Our team identified the issue you were running into where that modern text would become invisible in the Storyline editor, but would still show when previewed or published. They implemented a fix in the latest update of Storyline 360.
Take a look at the release notes here for some more detail and you can update by launching the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button for Storyline. Details here.

Hi Louise
I have this problem, I believe it is related to the current fix for displaying text. If you notice when you click out of a textbox it changes shape.
The best workaround is to always work at 100% zoom.
Phil
Thanks Phil - that's done the trick! It was driving me crazy
Superhero too :)
Not sure about the Super Hero bit
Thanks from me too. This has been driving me crazy for a week!
Thanks from me too! Just started using Articulate and I was having to calculate how many characters to the right I needed to place my cursor.
Hi Anne and welcome to E-Learning Heroes! Glad you got this figured out

Hi Jennifer and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)
This thread is a bit dated, but sorry to hear that you've run into a similar issue.
You mention that this is happening on a single file, so I'm curious if importing this project into a new file alleviates the issue for you.

Unfortunately - Fully uninstalling and reinstalling has not made any change in the behavior.
Any other thoughts?
Hey David,
Thanks for the update.

Thanks so much for the explanation David. I can certainly understand why you wouldn't have a sample file of that :)
The only issue that I saw with these steps was in the left panel, which did not show the text as you explained.
The placeholders were on my slide as well as a cursor and my typed text.
Check out this quick Peek recording of what I saw.
I know this is not helpful to what you are seeing, but it may be beneficial to allow our team to take a closer look at this.
I'm opening a case on your behalf and you should be hearing from someone soon.
