Text editing problems - Hebrew?

Feb 27, 2013

Hi, I have a problem with entering a Hebrew text in a data entry field. When I try to delete somthing in the middle of a sentence and pointing with the mouse it turnes the text from right heading to left heading and I can't delete or add text in the place I want to. Is there a fix to this problem? Itzik

Hi Itzik,

Is this happening when you're trying to edit the data entry field in the course, or after the course has already been published? It sounds like it's happening while trying to edit it, but I just want to be sure I'm understanding this correctly.

Also, can you confirm you're running Update 2 for Storyline? You can find this information by clicking on "Help" and "About Articulate Storyline". If you're not running version 2 (1212.1412), please download and install the update from the link below:

I just tried it now on IE and its the same.

It is just like a mirror image that I get.

If I put the cursor on the second character from the right and enter a new one it is entered next to the second character from the left.

I know that Articulat is been used in Israek so maybe someone already solved this problem. I just don't know about any local support.

Hi Itzik,

I don't know much about the Hebrew language, but I believe the text contains special characters and accents, correct? I know that version 1 had some issues with these types of characters, but if you're running Update 2 this shouldn't be happening. Are you able to share the file with us so we can investigate?

You'll be able to attach the .STORY file on the second page of the following form:

Please be sure to include a description of your issue. Please also include the URL for this thread in the form. Also, please share the case number with me. You're welcome to do so here, or in a private message. This way I can follow the progress of the case and update this thread.

Good morning John!

Looks like the issue that Itzik experienced is still being investigated by our QA department. We're hoping to have a fix for this soon, but I'm afraid I'm not able to give an estimate or timeframe.

If you run into the same problem when translating your course, it may be helpful to share your course with us. We'll be able to test the file and confirm whether or not you're experiencing the same issue. The more information we get on this issue, the quicker we can work toward a resolution.

Thanks very much, John!

Have a great day,

Christine

Hi John,

As Christine wrote, the issue is still under work and the answer I got is that it will be fixed on one of the next versions,,,

I guess the more right to Left users, the quicker we will get this fixed (-:

Currently it limits me to create courses with small to no Text entry feature.I hope this will be fixed soon!

Hi Itzik, John, and Christine,

Our team is working with Storyline files in Arabic, and we find problems displaying variables when setting the text boxes to read from RTL. Has there been any further resolution on this issue?

To Itzik, have you attempted to display variables in RTL with any success?

The link to more details on the issue we see is here: http://community.articulate.com/forums/p/35621/192072.aspx?

Thank you!

Hi Bingjie,

Christine has actually taken another position within Articulate, so she doesn't get into the forums as often. I'm not sure if Itzik or John are subscribed to this thread, but you may want to PM them just in case. Also, I see that Justin is now working with you on your case about the Arabic variables, so I'll continue to follow along.
