Hi All - I created some screen demos in a storyline file and now am trying to import into another storyline file - the import is not working. All I am getting is blank scenes.
As an alternative, have you tried exporting the screen demos as MP4s to re-import into your new project. Or copying the demo from the timeline on the old project and then pasting in the new?
I also did a quick test and observed the same behavior. Bug?
I tried to copy and paste but get an error. I could do the show me types as MP4 but I have some try it ones and these won't work as MP4.
I tried uninstalling Storyline and reinstalling but it did not make a difference. I am going to back out that latest update because it definately worked before.
Why does stuff like this always happen when up against unrealistic deadlines? WHY
You may have to consider something like first saving out the old project with the all videos in it as a new project, then delete the slides you don't need, and then import the new slides from the other new project back in. Kinda painful.

Gerry and Daniel, it is definately a bug that was introduced during the update. I uninstalled the updated version and reinstalled the previous version and now I can import the screen demos without any problem.
I really want to use the export to xml function for this project because I have to do French translation but I guess I will have to wait until it becomes more stable.
Thanks for the thread, guys. QA is on this and working hard to get it resolved. Unfortunately, the only workarounds for now is the one Gerry mentioned, and reverting back to the original Storyline installer. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your patience
This is a fairly old thread and I haven't seen any similar reports recently.
Can you tell us exactly what's happening with your project? I believe in Nancy's case, the import was only pulling in blank slides. Is the same thing happening for you?
Please first make sure that you're importing from and to your local hard drive:
Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

You may also want to make sure you're running the most recent version of Storyline. To find this information, click on "Help" and "About Articulate Storyline".

Maybe Articulate will have a quick fix that they might want you to test out for them. Here's hoping for you. :)
Hi, Nancy: A similar thing happened to me, and I did the workaround that Gerry suggested. Nice to know it wasn't just me.
