Using quiz percentage variable

Jan 22, 2013

Hi Guys,

First I would like to say that E-learning heroes has been a great resource for my Storyline questions, many of my questions got answered through reading other people's posts!

Until I came across something I couldn't resolve..

It appears that i have a problem with the Quiz variable; Results.ScorePercentage, which I cannot seem to use outside Storyline.

I made a quiz and at the end of this quiz, the user gets his/her score presented on a slide. If the user wants, a certificate can be printed (I used the HTML certificate from another user on this forum). I can access the variables like name, comment1, comment2 etc. which the user enters during the quiz. Those variables get transferred to the HTML certificate through javascript. Everything ok until I try to access the variable "Results.ScorePercentage", which just returns nothing on screen.

What I've read on the forums is that quiz variables may be protected and cannot be altered. Okay fine, but they can be read right?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hi Roger,

I'm trying to do something similar to what you did/solved. I don't see an attachment to your post? What exactly did you do when you added an operator to a new variable?

I'm trying to add a results slide at the end of a quiz by showing the learner how many questions they got right ("you answered _ correctly" the _ being the point number they got right). I'm using %results.scorepoints% as my variable, but it's not counting the right answers. I made each questions worth 1 point, but my variable keeps giving me just a 0.

Was hoping your post could shed some light.

Thanks!

Hi Rebecca!

I'm not sure what changes Roger made to get his project working. However, there's some great information that may help you out with this.

Check out the following article:

How to show multiple quiz scores on one result slide

I know it's not exactly the same, but it may help you pull that variable in to your results slide.

If that doesn't work, let me know I'll do a little more info hunting :)

Thanks!

Christine
