This free Storyline template features an icon-based menu. I used free icons via the link in the resources tab. You can replace with your own icons. The template also includes a few different slide layouts.
This is a great template - thanks for sharing.
I am having difficultly editing the sidebar though. When I open the slide 1.1 Main - there is no layer to edit. I can see it when I publish the file but cannot find it within the files to edit. Can you help?
Thanks in advance - I am quite new to articulate so apologies if this is a silly questions.
@Jennifer: As Ashley noted, I put the side bar on the master slide. However, if you built a single slide interaction, you could build the side bar on the slide level with links to layers. Since the side bar links to slides it needed to be available throughout the course. That's why I put it on the slide master.
However that means you have to make edits to the triggers in the slide master.
Thank you, Tom! This is elegant, very useful, and easy to modify for client projects.
I, too, like using the Slide Master, and even with triggers to slides within the module, the Slide Master approach makes the design/development easier.

Thanks for sharing this template, Tom!
Can you (or someone) point me to the best tutorial for how to create the zoom effect that was used on the Warehouse with Zoom Regions section?
Wow! Fantastic. Thanks. I am relatively new to Articulate - can anyone advise how I can make the free template downloads become available when I insert slides into my course without having to import from the file on my desktop? Thanks.
Quickest explanation: Open the file and then save it as a storyline template. Then you can import into Storyline and that will load it into the Storyline template folder.
Thank you for the great template Tom!
Trying to customize it, I wanted to resize the white text boxes containing the "+" sign (as seen in the screenshot on this page). However, in Slide Master mode, I can't seem to find it anywhere. It moves with the box, but when I resize the box it just remains in position - therefore out of it!
Any help is appreciated!
Is there a way to add a visited state to each icon in the menu so that users know what sections they have completed? I've added visited states int he slide master that show up right when you click but the icons show up as normal the next time the menu is opened.
