David, thank you! This was very helpful to my projects. Also, for software simulations, do you have any recommendations on ideal screencast/story size specially for a software with a lot of features/buttons?
Just a thought - would be nice if you added a trigger that listened for "clicked outside" of the marker to close it. Having only the 'x' to close can be slightly irritating, given this behavior is seen in many other online applications.
I use this all the time with software simulations, its a great way to do a callout on something or to get the learner to take a closer look at something that might not be as obvious.
Hi David, do you happen to have an older version or something similar built in SL2? This would be very useful to our current needs, but I know there is no interest in budget increase at this time for 360.
Based on a brief look, it seem to work as follows:
1. Base layer with the image.
2. On clicking on a marker, a new layer is opened.
3. This layer contains a small version of the zoomed area at the proper position. (To hide the rest of the screen image, simply place an appropriate shape on top of it and set the zoomed image position to "front")
4. On the image is an "entrance animation" with "Grow" effect to yield the zoom.
I cannot guarantee that I did not overlook something, but I see no reason why this should not also work in SL2...
I now tested it and while it looks nowhere as slick as David's example, it worked after about 2 minutes ;-)
See my posting above: I got it working in Storyline 2, so it should definitely work in Storyline 3, as well. I only seem to be unable to attach a file here...

I am trying recreate the above in one of my projects using Storyline 360 and the zoom region option is only available on my base layer and its not available on any subsequent layers that i create with in the same project, where am i going wrong any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
Hi Saira,
if you cannot add a second zoom region on the sublayer, simply add another marker/button/clickable trigger (or mouseover trigger etc.) to your layer and send the user to another layer (where the image may again appear with a "grow" effect or something similar). That should work...
