Thank you so much, Princy! That means a lot to me. :)
I'm a fan of the work you've done in the challenges! Your interactive glossary is fantastic. I would never have thought of such a clever glossary that includes so much information in such a simple way.
Neha: Princy shared her glossary interaction in ELH Challenge #192. Here's a link to all of the entries, and you can see Princy's beautiful glossary example is the second one on the list: https://community.articulate.com/articles/glossary-examples-in-elearning
Hi Neha!
So sorry you weren’t able to find the clues. There are 3 clues on post-it notes (stuck up on the cabinets in the middle of the kitchen) that tell you what to do, and the recipe pops up when you click on that - located in the same area.
I created this for an “escape room” challenge that relies on hunting for clues, so that’s the idea behind the design.
Thanks so much for trying it out. :)
Hi Neha!
No browser issues; just hint issues. :) The hints give you an idea of what to do. All items are labeled if you tap on them, which will help you find any item you need.
Here are the three solutions to the hints, and you can execute the 3 in no particular order:
(1.) The ground flax seeds on the shelf need to be dragged over the measuring cup of water before being dropped in the bowl (as the egg substitute), (2.) the yogurt in the refrigerator needs to be dragged over the water and dropped in the bowl in the same way as a substitute for buttermilk, and (3.) the red beet on the counter needs to be dragged over the juicer (as a substitute for red food coloring), then dropped in the bowl.
Hi Jackie, great piece of work but I definitely had browser related issues. I could not get the additional Flax seed, yoghurt etc interactions to work when holding them over the water etc when using Edge. Switched to Chrome and they then worked as you described above.
Aww...thanks, Heather! So sorry to hear about the red food coloring!
The 3 ingredients that require substitutions have corresponding post-it notes to click on that explain what to substitute, and the red food coloring is one of them.
The substitution for that one is beet juice. So if you grab the red beet on the counter, “juice” it by dragging it over the juicer, then drop it in the bowl, you’ll be on your way to red velvet cake.
Thanks so much for trying it, and thanks also for your very kind words! :)
Thank you, Karyn! I really appreciate it. Getting up to speed with the software is always exciting and fun. I'm looking forward to seeing you in the challenges! :)
Hello Jackie, I love this, but for some reason I can't make the Buttermilk and eggs! I keep trying to use the water, put the ingredients elsewhere, and keep stuffing up the recipe! It's driving me insane haha. I'm obviously hopeless at escape rooms!
Hi Anastasia!
I’m so sorry to hear that making this cake is anything less than enjoyable! I’m awful at figuring out escape room games, so completely understand your frustration. :)
Each item is labeled if you tap or click on it. The ground flax seeds on the shelf need to be dragged over the measuring cup of water before being dropped in the bowl (as the egg substitute) and the yogurt in the refrigerator needs to be dragged over the water and dropped in the bowl in the same way as a substitute for buttermilk.
I hope that helps!
Thanks, Ella! This was an Escape Room challenge, so the idea was to hide hints or clues and let users discover them. So the hints I’ve included are basically the guidance.
Thanks for trying it out, Julie!
I actually thought folks might think it was too easy compared to the other escape room examples, but it’s easy to lose all perspective on difficulty when you’re building and testing it on your own. :)
That was fantastic, Jackie. Really well done. I couldn't find the yoghurt because I didn't realise I could open the fridge,.
I also appreciate the substitute for egg, as I am vegan and was looking for a simple substitute that was healthy!
I love this example!
I can't drop on ingredients with tips correctly even using tips and information from the discussion here, maybe it is some problems with my browser...
But I'm so inspired by visualization, story and the final!
Thanks so much, Tania!
I can’t imagine what the dropping issue could be. No ingredient should be dropped on another ingredient - ingredients should only be dropped on the bowl.
If there’s a two-step process (as in the 3 hints), one ingredient gets dragged over something else, then dropped on the bowl.
Brilliant.. I love the timed aspect because it forced me to repeat several times, each time I got faster while memorizing the ingredients and steps. Exactly the outcome we want for our learners. Love it!
That's great, Stephanie! And you're right - that's exactly the desired outcome. A focused not-too-easy challenge combined with some motivated repetition is where it's at. :)
Thanks for your comments!
Thank you so much, E D! I'm really glad you liked it.
Some images I pulled from Content Library and manipulated them, but most I purchased from Adobe Stock and pulled apart/manipulated them in Adobe Illustrator. Here's the post I wrote about it: https://www.jackievannice.com/?p=175073077
Thank you again! :-D
