Richard,
Very nice work. Thanks for the hard work and sharing. I can see applications for other applications such as fire safety. This will come in very handy.
This is an excellent share. Thanks! I am new to Storyline and this demo has me thinking. Are any tutorials on how to accomplish a learning piece such as this?
Hey guys...
Thanks for commenting. I just noticed my sample was added today. Glad you liked it.
Todd: I agree, the timer is a very simple addition that I think makes it more realistic and provides context to real-world decision making. We don't always have hours to make decisions.
Glen: Glad you like it. Feel free to send me a link if you create something based off this sample. I would love to see what you do with it.
Lori: There are a ton of tutorials out there that will teach you how to do this. You can read a little more about this on my website at: http://bridgehillls.com/workplace-violence/
If you have any specific question, let me know and I'll do my best to answer it.
Richard
Thanks Ross. Feel free to take the idea and turn it into something that works for you. A timed decision-point works for many different scenarios. Perhaps something like, making decisions on whether to allow a product to continue down the manufacturing line, a memory game, business decisions that have to be made under pressure, etc.
Sally,
It's pretty simple. (note: I tried to attach a screenshot but could not)
Just created text numbers (10, 9, 8, so on....) set them for 1 second each on the timeline.
Entry animation for each number (Grow), exit animation for each was Shrink.
Set trigger to go to next layer when the timeline ended.

Well done Richard. The issue being if this happens, what do you do if you cannot hide, cannot escape and have no means of engaging with the shooter. Christchurch, NZ had this horrible scenario very recently and 50 people lost their lives. Big discussions here about this. :(
