I really like this branching scenario Nicole. In particular, having 3 options to choose from is perfect - any more and it may have been too confusing.
As I was progressing through the scenario, I actually learnt a lot from the answers to the questions. The one question I'm never sure how to answer is the one about my weaknesses. I chose the wrong answer - and the explanation helped me to understand why this is not the best answer. It also gave me insight into how I could be answering this question in the future.
For such a short and simple scenario, I think this is quite powerful at meeting the objective it sets out to meet.
Thank you!
Thank you for your great feedback, Dianne. I really appreciate it.
I also learned a lot about interviewing while I was putting this together, I used Google to research top interview questions and how to best answer them (and also found great examples of how NOT to answer them, which helped me too). Stay tuned, I'll be writing a blog post soon about how I created it and lessons learned along the way. :)
Thank you Sam! Much appreciated! I did write a blog post about how I built this scenario, which is located here: http://bit.ly/1zFw1Ss
And I'm currently working on adding the scenario template to our Downloads and giving a more in-depth look at how I built the progress meter.
Stay tuned!
Hi, Nicole! Your example is briilliant. I'm going to use your example to build a scenario-based interaction to show how choices, in a virtual 'project' environment have an impact on meeting the deliverable due date (or not making it at all). Your progress meter is great! How's work coming on the source file downloads?
I'm the entire dept where I work. I'm very new to Storyline. I've had a lot of success learning from templates and the tutorials provided by the heroes. Thanks for the Resources in your example.
I really liked how you personalized the scenario by having users enter their name. Making it personal engages the audience. This framework can be used in a number of ways. I have an upcoming project that this format would be great for. I plan on referring back to this frequently while I build it. Thank you for sharing.
Nicole, this is awesome.
I loved the way you designed this scenario.
Looking forward to your sharing of the story file.
Something I observed about the progress meter is this: the triangular indicator flashes when I clicked at the feedback slide. Is it possible to remove that?
Thanks Andy! Yes I have also noticed the triangle flashing and it's due to the triggers. There are about 60 triggers on the master slide so I think it takes a brief moment for the system to run through all the triggers and then update the triangle indicator, and that's when we see the flash. I haven't yet been able to come up with a simple solution to get rid of that, but if anyone has ideas, I'm all ears! :)
Oh and BTW, just in case you missed it, the story file is now available here: https://community.articulate.com/download/storyline-2-branched-scenario-template?page=1#comment-20890 :)
Just starting out with e-learning. Big ideas...a little intimidated by the vast pool of possibilities. This post came right on time. Thanks for the simple, yet effective example of branching. And...I got the job!!
I'm also a newbie to eLearning . I love the look and feel of your scenario, in particular having the learner enter their name and employer of their dream. I have read your Blog on how you put this together, and downloaded your template. Thanks for sharing and inspiring me.
Hi there Nicole,
Love the branching, progress bar and especially Adult Learning methodology where you learn from your mistakes but also how you learn why I got the answer right. Just a design issue I don't know if its PC related but your headings are not consistent in font sizes. Hope this helps. Part from that GREAT JOB!
impressive!
may I tell you : an orthographic mistake at the beginning (3rd slide i guess) : "despite .... you can still turn things around" you put an extra "s" at "turn"
This is a clever e-learning strategy, since the structure of the interaction reflects a real life scenario. A book with a list of recommendations would be less effective.
I clicked where you posted "The download is available here" about midway through this thread. Otherwise, I'm seeing the html but not the .story file. What comes up where I just referenced is a different story. For me anyway! Thanks,
Wow, it is rare to meet an engaging and simple e-learning activity like this one. Reading my name and the company I wanted to work made me feel like I was in the interview, so much that I started to get excited. Thanks for sharing this.
Hi there! :) Was also curious if the story file was still available? I'm trying to learn how to do more interactive branching scenarios and it'd be really helpful to see how everything is structured!
Hi Katie! Thanks for leaving a comment here. You can download the template for this file here: https://community.articulate.com/download/storyline-2-branched-scenario-template
Hope this helps :) Good luck!
Hi Nicole,
Thank you for sharing your wonderful template. I'm trying to figure out how to have the heat map not show up on the first slide. Do you have any advice?
Julie
