Publishing a quiz to Articulate Presenter

Articulate Quizmaker lets you incorporate quizzes and surveys into Articulate Presenter courses. In this tutorial, we'll look at how to publish from Quizmaker to Presenter. (You can also pull a quiz into a Presenter course from within PowerPoint. See this tutorial for details.)

Regarding Quiz Size and Player Colors

When a quiz is part of a Presenter course, we recommend using the same slide size in Quizmaker and PowerPoint for the best results. If they're different, the quiz will be centered on the PowerPoint slide and, if necessary, scaled down to fit within the slide.

If PowerPoint is using a different size, the slide background color from the Presenter player will show around the quiz. To change this color, do the following:

  1. Open your presentation in PowerPoint.
  2. Go to the Articulate tab on the ribbon, and click Player.
  3. Click Colors & Effects on the ribbon.
  4. Click Show advanced color editing.
  5. From the Edit item drop-down, choose Base >> Slide Background.
  6. Use Top color, Bottom color, and Transparency to set your color options.
  7. Click OK.

Also, when embedding a quiz in Presenter, the player colors in Presenter take precedence over the player colors in Quizmaker. Be sure to set your player colors in Presenter.

Publishing

Here's how to publish a quiz from Quizmaker to Presenter:

  1. First, do any of the following to launch the publishing wizard:
    • Press F10.
    • Go to the Home tab, and click Publish.
    • From any tab, click the Preview drop-down, and choose Publish.
    • Click the round Articulate button in the upper left corner, and choose Publish.
  2. When the Publish window appears, click the Articulate Presenter tab on the left edge.
  3. Select the PowerPoint presentation into which you want to publish. Only presentations that are currently open will display in the list. If the presentation you want isn't listed, click the ellipsis (...) button to browse for it.
  4. Next, decide how you want your quiz to appear in the course. Select either of the following:
    • Insert as a slide in the presentation: This option creates a placeholder slide in your presentation. When you publish your presentation, the quiz will display where indicated by the placeholder slide. (Tip: You can move the placeholder slide anywhere within your presentation just as any other slide.)
    • Insert as a tab in the player: This option adds a clickable tab to the top bar of your course player. Learners can click it at any time to view your quiz. (Tip: You can change the location and order of tabs on the top bar of your course player. Click here to learn how.)
  5. Click the Publish button in the lower right corner.
  6. When the Publish Successful dialog appears, click Close.

Setting Quiz Properties in the Course

After publishing a quiz to Presenter, switch over to PowerPoint. The Quizzes and Interactions window will be displayed, waiting for you to customize the properties for your newly published quiz. If you chose to insert your quiz as a slide, it'll open to the Quizmaker Quizzes tab. If you chose to insert it as a tab on your course player, it'll open to the Player Tabs tab.

Use the following options to customize the properties for your quiz, depending on how you chose to insert it:

If you change your mind about any of these settings later, don't worry. You can edit them at any time. See this tutorial.
