You can control how an interaction behaves with the rest of your course, such as how the interaction appears in the menu, when learners can leave the interaction, and how the previous/next buttons function.

Customizing Properties for an Interaction on a Slide

The easiest way to access properties for an interaction slide is to click the Edit Properties button at the bottom of the interaction placeholder slide in PowerPoint.

Another way to access properties for an interaction slide is to:

  1. Go to the Articulate tab on the PowerPoint ribbon and click Engage Interaction.
  2. Select the Engage Interactions tab on the left side of the window that appears.
  3. Choose the interaction you want to customize.

Then use the following properties to customize how the interaction behaves with the rest of your course.

Remove

This removes the interaction from your course. (If you've added more than one interaction, make sure you select the right one in the list before you remove it.)

Edit Interaction

This opens the interaction in Engage so you can edit it. When you finish editing, click Save and Return to Presenter on the Engage ribbon.

Show in menu as

Choose whether your interaction will display as a single item in the player menu or as multiple items (one for each slide in your interaction).

Allow user to leave interaction

Choose whether learners are allowed to jump to another slide in your course at any time or only after they've viewed all the steps in the interaction.

Prev/Next player buttons go to

Choose whether the player buttons jump to the adjacent step in the interaction or slide in the overall course.

For this option to be available, the interaction's playback mode must be Interactive, including the option to Show previous/next buttons, and learners must be allowed to leave the interaction at any time (see previous option).

Customizing Properties for an Interaction on a Player Tab

To access properties for an interaction that has been added to a player tab, do the following:

  1. Go to the Articulate tab on the PowerPoint ribbon and click Engage Interaction.
  2. Select Player Tabs on the left side of the window that appears.
  3. Choose the interaction you want to customize.

Then use the following properties to customize how the interaction behaves with the rest of your course.

Remove

This removes the interaction from your course. (If you've added more than one quiz or interaction, make sure you select the right one in the list before you remove it.)

Edit label

This lets you change the text that's used for the tab that appears on the top bar of your course player. Type the new name and click OK.

Edit Interaction

This opens the interaction in Engage so you can edit it. When you finish editing, click Save and Return to Presenter on the Engage ribbon.

Allow user to leave interaction

Choose whether learners are allowed to jump to another slide in your course at any time or only after they've viewed all the steps in the interaction.
