Designing Camera Simulators to Improve Photography in E-Learning #264

Online Camera Simulators #264: ChallengeRecap

A few years ago, Sony released a hilarious marketing campaign poking fun at amateur DSLR users who never learned to use their camera’s professional and complicated features.

As an auto-mode iPhoneographer, I can relate to those who feel intimidated by the steep learning in photography.

Thankfully, online simulators are available to help amateurs learn the basics of photography. And that’s what this week’s e-learning challenge is all about!

Photography Mapped

Here’s a good example of an online camera simulator designed to help you understand your camera and take better pictures. You have controls over light, aperture, shutter, and sensor and get real-time feedback below each setting.

Challenge of the Week

This week, your challenge is to create a simple e-learning interaction to help users learn to use their digital cameras.

For those just getting started in e-learning or Storyline, try using click-and-reveal interactions rather than working with multiple dials and sliders. If you have questions or get stuck on how to do something, please let us know and we’ll help you out.
