With all the new features and enhancements we're adding to Storyline 360, it’s easy to overlook a few of the handier tips and features that can really boost your productivity.
That’s why I’ve rounded up five of my favorite Storyline tips for you. These five are quick highlights of features we rolled out, with links to how-tos, power tips, and other resources you might have missed. Check ’em out!
1. Become a Media Library Power-User with These Tips
With the addition of media library to Storyline 360, managing your audio files, images, characters, and other project assets got faster and easier than ever. That’s because the media library gives you one spot for adding, removing, and swapping out assets used in your entire project.
Being able to manage your assets in one place is awesome, but keep in mind you can also use media library to:
- Do a keyword search to locate media library assets in your project
- Rename assets to clarify their use and make them easier to find when you search
- Add notes to assets to make them easier to find when you search
- Launch the closed captions editor right from media library

2. Create Glossaries from a .CSV File
Glossaries are great for defining commonly used terms, spelling out acronyms, and clarifying the meaning of culture-, industry-, or organization-specific jargon. That versatility makes them a wonderful supporting tool for learners.
With the rollout of the import glossary feature, it's easier than ever to include a glossary in your Storyline 360 courses. Now you can build your glossary in a spreadsheet and then save it as a .CSV file for import into Storyline 360.
But did you know that you can also edit your imported terms and definitions right in Storyline 360 and then export your glossary to .CSV? Having the ability to export makes maintaining and repurposing your glossary in other projects so much easier.

3. Save Time with Slide Numbers
In the past, numbering slides, tracking progress, or numbering questions in a randomized question bank all required setting up variables and triggers. But now, with the slide number feature, you can save yourself a whole lot of time on these common development tasks.

4. Get Savvy with Your Text-to-Speech Scripts
Adding voice-over narration to e-learning is great for engaging learners, but it’s not always cost-effective to hire professional voice talent for every project. That’s why having Text-to-Speech (TTS) in Storyline 360 is so helpful.
Adding TTS to your Storyline 360 projects is easy, but writing a script for TTS may require a little planning. That’s because TTS voices lack intonation, and they don’t always pronounce words the way we want them to, which means you need to allow for those differences in your script.

5. Faster Troubleshooting
Storyline 360 is my go-to app for creating complex, custom interactions because it’s incredibly powerful and yet so simple to use. And it got even better this year with the release of the workflow enhancements to the Storyline 360 trigger panel and wizard.
Among my favorite features in the new trigger panel is the ability to temporarily disable triggers. Not only is this great for getting a little experimental with my designs, but it’s super-handy for troubleshooting complex interactions.
The disable trigger feature is available when you mouse-over a trigger. It’s that little lightning bolt icon that appears to the left of the trigger.
