The class plan is a resource document used to sort, organize and describe bodies of work. Section 124.14 (A) of the Ohio Revised Code (ORC) empowers the director of the Ohio Department of Administrative Services (DAS) to establish, modify, or rescind, job classifications in the state's classification plan. The Human Resources Division Office of Talent Management is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the class plan. The Class Plan is comprised of job classes, series, families and occupational groups. The Class Series is constructed of two or more job classes sharing a common title but distinguished on the basis of classification factors (aka “specifications”), such as variety and complexity of work, nature of supervision received, and the qualifications required for an individual to adequately perform the work.; aka---class specifications A classification is a single job function that contains essential functions for the job including the class concept, duties, minimum qualifications, unusual working conditions, and any training required to be developed or maintained. The Position Description is the foundation used to create a position description. The Position Description is specific to the job and contains the duty and task statements.
