Icons inserted into Storyline can have alt text. Can the Media Library have an extra tab for 'Icons' so the accessibility/alt text field can be easily gotatable in one place, rather than having to find each icon and then manually editing its alt text. It also would be good just as a reference to know where the icons were used and how many are in the project.2Views0likes0CommentsEAA Videos (Transcripts)
One of the recommendations/requirements of the European Accessibility Act is to provide downloadable audio/video transcripts or alternative text-based versions of video and audio content which enables learners to access the information in a format that suits their needs and preferences. Would it be a good idea to allow the video block to have the option of uploading a transcript, just like you do with subtitles? This would avoid adding a separate accordion or file download for the transcript. The transcript could then be an extra player control button to download/view. A much tidier solution.1View0likes0CommentsScreen Recording: Hide instruction callout after successful submission of the proper action
Hide the callout with instructions automatically after the user clicks the appropriate hotspot / performs the required action: As soon as a longer screen capture (several seconds) follows the user activity, the callout indicating where to click or what to do is still visible. It should be implemented that as soon as the user clicks the correct hotspot/triggers the proper action, this callout is automatically hidden. It is a lot of work to do that manually and should be no problem at all to add to the software thus providing the trigger automatically for step-by-step slides in try mode.3Views0likes1CommentAI Automation - Build more efficiently with assistance
Hello, It was great catching up with one of the Articulate team at the excel L&D tech event yesterday in London. It gave me the opportunity to explore everything currently possible with the platform from an AI perspective before we look to include it in our package. (It's looking likely, it's a great addition to the platform, kudos to the team for implementing it!) I just wanted to pass on some suggestions and ideas I discussed with I think Charlotte, but forgive me if I misheard! I enquired about some automation capability with AI, in regard to building courses more efficiently which I understand is not currently possible. I thought I'd suggest it here to hear from the community and share it with you. For example: Template matching: Allow users to create and setup a "Templates" area that a bot can duplicate. Example use case: Creating large assessments with group branding, buttons, states and iconography in just a few clicks. I could upload an excel of the questions I would like to add, assign it to one of our pre-created templates and it will add in all the details for me and save a lot of time with formatting and editing slides. I could make sure the excel provided certain details such as: The question Any answers Feedback Graded Question Type Attempts Add to question Bank (Yes/No) Question Bank Name Assessment Name (For courses with multiple assessments) This could potentially work in a similar fashion with other types of defined automated AI tasks "Articulate-d" Want to make a decision tree with company branding, button states and triggers already assigned? Just gather those data points and build it in a matter of clicks. How about setting up a suite of videos for a new product launch? Add in the videos you want to share and select a template. Sharing multiple documents for a particular subject to build a resource hub? Add in any type of file and select a template. The possibilities are endless! It could really help us work smarter and not harder and take away those often time consuming and tedious tasks that are really important to ensure consistency across the business. Looking forward to seeing what is possible in the coming years!13Views0likes1CommentScreen Recording: better editing options for screen capture needed
When using a screen recording in a storyline project to teach some click and type procedure through step-by-step slides in try mode unfortunately very few editing options are available. Absolutely needed enhancements: Cut away some portion of the recording in particular in the middle (only possible using workarounds like duplicating the slide and manually changing the first or last frame of that portion and editing the triggers for the slide - a very error prone process) Speed up (or slow down) portions of the recording. Sometimes you need to move slowly for a smooth mouse movement and professional user experience. This is however too slow for watching. Zooming in on the recording timeline when doing the action fine tuning for the screen capture. For long recordings you cannot move the start or end frame with the mouse anymore but have to use the next/previous frame buttons. For heavier editings (in particular speeding up the video) we sometimes exported the video to Camtasia, edited it there and reimported it as a video on top of the screencast. However, the first 2 basic editing requirements come up so often in our daily work that Powerpoint, Camtasia recordings and iSpring for SCORM conversion are a real alternative for dealing quickly with this type of issues though it requires manual setting of hotspots. Some better usability in Screen Cast editing (Try mode) would really help us here. They provide a very powerful tool for learning complex procedures by actually doing them in a guided way but creation and maintenance must become easier otherwise it is too expensive/requires too much time.8Views0likes0CommentsImproving Freeform Questions
Hi, I’d like to share or discuss the following. I’ve developed a Freeform Pick One template, where the look & feel of the feedback layers is designed in the Feedback Master. I’m using 4 answer options – each one is a rectangle with text, instead of the traditional radio buttons. I’m using the following trigger and settings: “When the state of at least one of the rectangles A, B, C, D is selected, Submit Pick One.” This works well. The slide settings are configured without slide navigation controls, and I’m using “Resume saved state when returning to this slide.” 1. What I’ve noticed is that Storyline automatically adds the slide layer triggers: “When the timeline ends on this layer: Hide this layer” and “Jump to next slide.” But this is not helpful at all—in my case, it breaks the interaction. Can Articulate prevent this from happening automatically? In other words, can the program avoid adding these triggers by default? 2. The advantage of this interaction is its simplicity. The downside is that the user can’t answer the question again. That’s because of the ‘resume state’ setting. The benefit of resume state is that the learner sees their answer is saved and that the question has already been completed. The downside is that they can’t choose to redo/replay the question. (This is, for example, possible in Rise.) That’s why I’d like to ask: is it possible to create an additional slide trigger that resets the page? (e.g. “Reset this page to initial state when the user clicks X.”) That would complete this interaction for me. Thanks in advance!7Views0likes0CommentsMouse actions in recording slides
1. I would like to see more options for the slide recording, with regards to the mouse. set the default time length and path of the movement set whether or not you want the click effect set whether or not you want single/double or not Now I'm spending a lot of time, removing and adjusting these things on slide finalization. 2. I would like a trigger, so I can hide/show the mouse pointer, or add additional movement paths/mouses on one slide: When there is a drag mouse action, the mouse pointer is one (selectable) style. Then in the drag and drop action, the mouse is as recorded. (But the inserted mouse stays also in view. So you have two mouses when playing the slide) It would be useful to be able to hide the mouse, when the drag and drop action starts.2Views0likes0Comments
