In a previous interactive scenario built in Rise, I had some images with the characters popping out of a circle. I had some question on how to do that.
This tip generally works in both PowerPoint and Storyline to create pop out characters similar to the ones in this recent e-learning challenge.
How to Create a 3D Pop-Out Graphic in PowerPoint
If you're using PowerPoint, make sure to install Studio 360 (comes with Articulate 360) so you have access to the Content Library characters. Otherwise you can use other characters.
The basic steps outlined in the video above:
- Insert a character and crop it until it is square.
- Insert a circle.
- The circle and image should be a similar size.
- Crop the image to a circle shape.
- Position the character over the circle.
- Scale it up to suit your need for the overhanging image.
- Duplicate the character.
- Crop the first image to fit in the circle.
- Crop the second image and place on top of the first image to cover.
- Group together so you don’t accidentally nudge them out of place.
It's easy to turn your design into an image. When you finish your design in PowerPoint, you can save it as an image in two ways:
- Right-click on your design and select "Save as Picture" (.PNG)
- Save the entire slide as a .PNG file
Check out the tutorial above for more specific details on how to do this.
