Error Message - Project could not be saved
Hi all,
I have received an error message several times today that looks like screenshot below. It reads, "Object reference not set to an instance of an object.." Could possibly be using the .story file I am trying to save. Nothing seems to work, and at this point a lot of effort will be lost if I just close. Any suggestions?
Hi Siva,
We definitely don't want you losing all of your work, so let's try and narrow down why this is happening.
- What version of Storyline are you using?
- Are you saving to your local hard drive, a flash drive, or a network drive? Saving locally is best. š
- Has this happened with other files, or just this one in particular?

Hi Alyssa,
I am using storyline2 Update 12 and saving local drive. Only this particular file i facing this issue.
Please help me with that.
Thanks,
Siva G Thanks, Siva. It sounds like you're doing everything correctly, and you may have run into a corrupt file. I've got two things you can try:
-
There may still be a working version of your project in your temp files. Here's a quick Peek at how to find them.
- If you don't see anything in your temp files, I would open a new Storyline file, save it to your local drive, then copy/paste the content from the old file to the new file.
File corruption can happen, even in the best software, and even if youāre following all the recommended best practices. To be ready if it happens again, follow these tips.
