Google Third-Party cookies ending soon.

May 01, 2024

Hi all,
Is there any move by Articulate regarding third-party cookie endings in Chrome and Edge? How will this affect the published for Web-only modules with resumes on the restart?

Thank you,

Hello Piotr,

Thanks for reaching out!

I believe Google is only phasing out third-party cookies and still retaining the ability to store first-party cookies. I found the following definitions from a website:

  1. First-party cookies are created by the website the user is visiting. They enable the site to recognize the user’s device and store information that can improve their browsing experience, like saving items in a shopping cart or remembering that the user is logged in.
  2. Third-party cookies are placed on a user’s browser by a website other than the one they’re currently visiting. They can track visitors across websites, which enables you to gather data about users’ browsing habits, preferences, and interests. This information is then used to deliver personalized advertising experiences.

Having first-party cookies should still allow learners to resume web-only modules, but I'll need help from our support team to verify this. I opened a support case on your behalf to get you in touch with our support engineers, they'll be able to help shed some light on how the resume will be done once cookies are phased out. Please be on the lookout for an email from our team!
