Interactive map - feel free to download
Jan 02, 2015
I was browsing some sites today for any design inspiration. Finally I got an idea to mix slider and a map to present some data. I picked my 5 favorite places around Bournemouth where I live.
Slider is placed vertically, so you need to move the compass north (up) and south (down) to navigate among the attractions located in different places.
Have a look how it works:
Feel free to download the source file (Storyline 2):
You can add subpages, photos, videos, other maps or whatever your imagination will tell you. Any feedback from you guys will be much appreciated.

This is amazing, Joanna! I can't wait to peek under the hood to see how you pulled it together. Gorgeous design, too!
Happy New Year!
Awesome combination of interactivity and design. I am getting some ideas of my own to re-create it in SL1 [without slide]. Will keep posted for the same.

Kawstov
Only suggestion I think might help is to split the content up into multiple slides rather than one slide with multiple layers. I have found that splitting the content up helps when troubleshooting is needed and makes it easier to expand at a later date.
Thank you, David.
All the best in 2015 for you and this awesome e-learning community :)
Thanks Kawstov. I'm looking forward to seeing your example :)
Nice one Joanna!
This is Great. Thanks for sharing!
Joanna,
This is fabulous.
I would change the action of the names on the left to be more consistent. I suggest either:
1. When the slider moves off one, it disappears so only one name is visible, or
2. Once they are all revealed, they stay revealed.
I know I'm being dense, but when I download the source file and unzip it, I get a package in various folders rather than a .story file. Just wondering what I am supposed to do with this. Thanks.
Are you showing us the contents of the zip folder after you downloaded it?
Just choose to open it with Storyline 2 when you click the download link.
EDIT: whoops. I see now that you downloaded the published file. Extract it and look for a story.html file, and then double click that.
Hi Kevin,
just like David wrote - after the download just open with SL2, you don't need to unzip anything.
David...yes I was showing you the contents of the zip file (there was no story.html file). Joanna...I renamed the .zip extension on the downloaded source file to a .story extension and it opened fine. Maybe doing that is obvious to everyone but me. Thanks for you assistance and responses.
