Tearing my hair out with variables! Help!!

I've created an SL free form drag and drop interaction. And when my learners have dragged and dropped everything, they click on a hotspot which takes them to a slide which shows them what they got right or wrong. Depending on whether they got them all right or some of them wrong, they click a button that either takes them to the next slide or returns them to the previous slide to try again.
I've used true and false variables to change states. Some of the drag and drops work as expected and some don't. And for the life of me, I can't see where I have gone wrong.
I've attached the SL file if anyone can have a look and point me in the right direction.

I downloaded and published your .story. However i dont see anything not working properly with the states. Do clarify your issue as i cannot reproduce it ( or dont know how to )
Kind regards,

Hi Helen! Not sure if you've been able to come across a solution since the time of your original posting... In case you haven't, I've taken a look under the hood and found opportunities to streamline your course design and effectively eliminate the need for the "Result" slides, replacing them with layers. In terms of the variables you currently have in place, I found that the T/F variables you've created just needed to see the triggers they are associated with tweaked a little. In addition to the revised story file, I'm also attaching screenshots of the manage project variables window and the trigger set up I've utilized.
Hope this proves helpful!
