RISE adding content on it s own

May 15, 2024

Has anyone had RISE add content to your course without your knowledge?  I have had this happen twice, where within a published scorm file there was new content - related to fake news etc.

I had deleted it and reuploaded the file, to only have it happen again. This seems to be a serious problem.

If you're inserting a link, I suspect the .php is redirecting the page. When I paste that link into a browser it takes me to a login page at https://stwcas.okstate.edu/cas/login

I assume if one is already logged in, it may redirect to a previous page or something and that's why you're getting different content.

Perhaps someone else can confirm, but I wouldn't use a .php site as the URL

No, that isn't it. There wasn't a link - I just happened to be going through the course from the instructor view in Canvas. It loaded the module I was going through, but it had this extra content in it.

I was viewing it within Canvas. The scorm file of the rise course was uploaded into Canvas. It was in the middle of the Rise module - trust me.

Can you explain what you're doing in Rise? I assume that's a published Rise course that has been uploaded to Instructure. Rise has no way to pull in content dynamically outside of embedded content like an iframe.

Assuming that's the Rise course that's embedded. It's possible there's some cached content on the server. That's where I'd start. Make sure the SCORM package is up to date and any old content is gone. If you need more detailed assistance, I'd contact our support team so they can look into this.
